RE: Hive-Naija Weekend Engagement #59 - "2023 NIGERIA ELECTION"

in Speak Peace2 years ago

Good afternoon dear compatriots and nationalists. As a full-blooded Nigerian, it gives me the pleasure to go out to vote candidate of my choice. It is no more news that the last eight years has been the toughest for all Nigerian citizens, the poor, middle class and the elite respectively; except those who are feeding from our national treasure where they did not work.

The campaigns have ended now and we have seen convincingly that some people are not even suppose to be in the race but in jail for the many atrocities they have committed against the people of Nigeria. I know that if not now, sometimes in the future, we are going to have some review of our past leaders in the law court. But that aside, we are ready for the elections

Crimes Before Election

Just this more ing, Arise TV broadcasted a lawmaker in Rivers state who was caught with $500,000 cash to bribe voters. In his custody was a document where the distribution modality was written out. When asked, he said it was his principal, the PDP presidential flag bearer that sent him the errand. I wonder what more evidence will be needed to prosecute such persons in a just and egalitarian society like ours.

Left to me, I would say that our democracy is in her teenage age and not mature enough yet. It is a passing phase though. Someday,we will get there.

The Labour Party stalwarts across the nation have had different press conferences stating that their party name is not on the ballot paper. They already accuse INEC of not been straightforward to the third force.

Generally speaking anyways,I think the election will be peaceful in some quarters but there may be skeletal unrest in some parts of the nation (I'm not a prophet of doom, just stating the obvious).

One thing is clear, of all the registered voters, the youth (persons from 18-49 years) makes about 60% of the total voters. Believe me you, if we'll come out to vote, putting in mind the last eight deadly years that was preceded by wanton çorruption by the PDP led government, and the high rate of poverty, insecurity and unemployment; we should know who to vote for.
