Failure Is Not Final

Failure is when one is incapable of success and is also a situation where intended objectives are not met.

Post Secondary School Experience

I have enjoyed success for a longer years in my early life, I have seen success as the only option I have, my Father don't take Failure as an option, he believes that failure is a result of inadequate preparation, When I was in Junior secondary School I happens to be an average student, I became one of the best student in my school when I reach senior class.

The Rejected Me

I have experienced failure in my educational career when I graduated from secondary School. I have nice grades in my SSCE and after my graduation from secondary School my Father got a recommendation of two schools in a town hall seminar; a Maritime College and a Petroleum Training Institute. He preferred a Maritime related course to a petroleum institute, he made enquiry about the Maritime College in my state and he discovered it is a private school, from there we got another information of a Federal Government owned Maritime Academy: Nigeria Maritime Academy, Oron Delta State. I applied, I performed well in the first phase of the exam and I was qualified for the second phase of the Examination which lasted for a week. A week later final shortlisted names were out and my name was missing. I see hell for more than a month, my Father stop buying me things, he will intentionally reject my request with his popular saying "you let me down when I am about to be proud of you"

I wept for weeks without no one to console me, my mother advice me to forget everything that happened and move on with life but I could not take it any longer, my mate are already in the university of their choice, they are aware of my plans, what will be my response when they seek to know happens to be the things that bothered me.

Failure is not Final

Few weeks later I heard about the death of a friend I made during the second phase of the Examination, Johnson slumped on the parade ground and die few minutes later, the cause of his death was not disclosed and luckily for me another friend of mine Wale called my second number which happens to belong to my father, he picked the call and he received the message. When he got home, he hugged me and prayed for me. He told me not to worry about what he would say to me in a repentant tone.

I believe my failure is a way Almighty God wants to protect me and provide a better career for me. I feel relaxed and move on.

My failure added some value to me, I learnt that success doesn't come easily and failure is not final. I also know that success is not always attached to the first attempt, till this present moment I don't have a phobia for failure because I feel failure has once made me better and successful.
