You've spoken so well, but I'll want to contribute on the part of the reason why ladies are abused.
Some ladies accept these harsh treatment from guys because they feel indebted to them. Others maybe they have no where else to run to and others because of the threat they are receiving from their abuser and the likes.

Because like you said the woman who passed away had money so why would she still choose to remain in such a pit? It might be one of those reasons I've mentioned above but I can't categorically say it is, only she knows the reason why she allowed herself to be a victim.
