Is immortality a Gift or Curse?

When people lose their loved ones, you can never know how much it hurt or feel the depth of their pains because you don't know how close they are to the dead, i have only lost a dear one once and he was my childhood friend, we didn't see for like 5 years before death took him away, when i heard about his death, i felt so sad, i longed for him and memories of him flooded me... I did not feel good for some days as he keeps crossing my mind but at the end the living keeps living and the dead lives forever in our heart........

Which takes me back to the main topic of the hive-naija prompt, if i was given a choice to choose from two pills, one is the blue pill that can make me bring back a loved one who died and the other is the red pill that grant everlasting life... which one would i go for?

As human, we have a life span and not everyone will reach their max life span before they die due to unforeseen circumstance so one way or the other, death is inevitable and if i would be choosing the blue pill, i can only bring back one person and that is it, my loved ones are many so why not let the dead rest and let the living continue with the race of life...

I would choose the red pill that grant everlasting life, i have my reasons, the everlasting have advantages and disadvantages and i would writes about the disadvantages first...

What can be worst than seeing your loved ones grow old and die, even right now whenever i see my parent i feel sad as they are now old and grows weaker with each passing day, when i remember their youthful age and how they cared for me while i was still nothing but a child, it breaks my heart i can only hope they last longer for them to reap the fruit of their labour to the max before they go to the land of no return.....

This is the disadvantage of everlasting life, you will witness all the dead of your friends, families and many more but there you are still in your youthfulness granted with the gift of immortality, your heart will break when your loved ones die and sometimes you will really feel like your immortality is a curse because you can't grow old with anyone..

The advantages of the gift of immortality is you will become Wealthy, you will be very rich, like who lives for centuries and won't get rich in the process? you do not even need to work, there are rich people who will die and abandon their wealth, and with the wisdom you have acquired with the years spent on earth, you can easily tell what will make you rich and other things that normal beings do not know....

You will become a genius, you have to keep it a secret that you are immortal but people will definitely know you are different due to the vast knowledge you would have amass from older generations, you will be able to predict stuffs and they might as well call you a seer...

You will be able to live in different countries and places because you definitely can't be in one place forever as you will be discovered if those they think are growing old and weaker and you still glow in your youthfulness, so every 20 years you need to always move around in order to protect your secret...

Lastly you can date your young girls but the sad part is you can't grow old with any of them as they will grow old and die and if you happen to love anyone, it will always lead to heartbreak for you as at the end, they will be gone...
