Parents Are Hands, Shoulders And Legs.

in Speak Peace3 years ago

They're shoulders to sit on when you're little so that you can see the world;
Shoulders to stand on when you're older just so you can touch the sky;
Lean against them whenever you fall;
Cry on them when it seems your world is crumbling around you;

They're Hands;
Hands to guide your steps lest you fall while you're still learning to walk;
Hands to discipline you when you're going in the wrong directions;
Hands to hold you when you've had the worst day;
Hands to give you away on your best day;

They're Legs
Legs that take you everywhere when you didn't know how to use yours yet;
Legs that accompany yours on the first day of the rest of your life;
Legs that aid you when you're too weak to walk the talk;
Legs that'll go to the ends of the earth to ensure you get the world.

Amaka De poet. A nice tribute to your folks and their invaluable contribution to your life. We all adore our parents and the sacrifices they've made on our behalf. Never knew what it took to parent and guard someone until I got much older. It is such a huge task even for people who do not know everything.
