Yesterday I flew back to Shenzhen to spend CNY with family.😇
Before departure I was a bit worried of the COVID situation… because the quarantine policy changes a lot these days. If there’s a case in your local area, you might need to self quarantine for 14 days. However, I decided to risk it for the nice family meal! Turns out, it’s worth it! 1.5 days in I’m already getting acid reflux.
Chinese food culture varies from place to place. shanghai is a huge international trading zone, and the food there changed to suit a global appetite. Shenzhen was little more than a fishing village 80 years ago, so there's a ton of seafood.
Crabs, abalones, scallops vermicelli, cold sea whelks with dressing, fish, fish meatballs… and red meats like lamb chops and beefs. It’s a tradition to have leftover on New Year’s Eve, which represents the spirit of 年年有余 - to always have surplus food. That explains another CNY activity: to finish the leftover food on New Year’s Day 🤣
Me waiting for the food to be served everyday⬇️
Wish you and your family happiness and fortune in the year of the tiger!!♥️
Hehe, it looks like you had a great time. I am feeling hungry now ;)
Happy year of the tiger!
Haha do you eat seafood often?🤩
Happy year of the tiger!!
Not very often, but we love them a lot :)
