Hello everyone, how was your week? I hope it's been a good one, I'm bringing a little companion today!

Technical memory: latex and polyethylene prosthesis for the characterization of a maritime creature, crown made of shells, plus the dress made by my friend and model of the photo.

Memoria técnica: prótesis de látex y polietileno para la caracterización de un ser marino, corona hecha de caracoles, más el vestido hecho por mi amiga y modelo de la foto.

Conceptual memory: My friend's work was to show the dress she made based on textures she highlighted from Guillermo del Toro's films. She asked me to do her makeup, and told me she needed a concept. When I asked her for the textures she used, I thought of a sea/human creature and I started sketching what I had in mind, she liked the idea and so we created this being, who was curious about her world/s.

Memoria conceptual: El trabajo de mi amiga era mostrar el vestido que hizo en base a texturas que destacó de las películas de Guillermo del Toro. Me pidió que la maquille, y me contó que necesitaba un concepto. Al pedirle las texturas que usó, pensé en una criatura marina/humana y me puse a hacer bocetos de lo que tenía en mente, la idea le gustó y así creamos a este ser, que sentía curiosidad por su/s mundo/s.

There are several topics to prepare, I will start with the prostheses which are the most important part for this characterization.

Hay varios temas que preparar, voy a empezar por las protesis que son la parte más importante para esta caracterización.

Ears/ Orejas

With a wire I made the structure of the figure I had in mind. Then with insulating tape I lined it so that it would not prick and at the same time it would be easier to color it later.

Con un alambre hice el esqueleto de la figura que tenía en mente. Luego con cinta aislante lo forré para que no pinche y a la vez sea más fácil darle color luego.

I covered the ears with polyethylene paper in two shades, a darker one for the spinal part, and a lighter one for the skin, creating a sort of fin.
< Forré las orejas con papel de polietileno en dos tonos, uno más oscuro para la parte espinal, y uno más claro para la piel creando una especie de aleta.

Gills/Branquias

While the finned ears were drying, I made the molds with clay and then covered them with liquid latéx. I made an extra one in case any of them got ruined during the process.

Mientras las orejas aletas secaban, con arcilla hice los moldes que luego cubrí con latéx líquido. Hice uno de más por si alguno se arruinaba durante el proceso.

I tinted the latéx with a metallic light blue to match the ears.

El latéx lo tinté con un celeste metálico para que combinara con las orejas.

Fish bones / Espinas

Using small pieces of wire lined with insulating tape again I made some kind of spinal fins as if they were a defense for the creature.

Usando pequeños trozos de alambre forrados con cinta aislante nuevamente hice unas especies de aletas espinales como si fueran una defensa de la criatura.

Crown / Corona

This was my favorite part, I have an obsession with crowns, I used florist wire again in this case, and created the shape of the tiara, I glued all kinds of sea shells that I have saved for this kind of cases, I also added leaves, small flowers, chains and gliter until I got it the way I preferred.

Esta fue mi parte favorita, tengo una obsesion con las coronas, usé nuevamente alambre para floristería en este caso, y creé la forma de la tiara, pegué todo tipo de conchas de mar que tengo guardado para este tipo de casos, agregué también hojas, flores pequeñas, cadenas y gliter hasta quedar como más me gustó.

I had to wear it as I loved the way it turned out.//Tuve que probarlo ya que amé como fué quedando.

The make-up process

El proceso de make-up

First we went to the set with her dress on, we looke her hair, and proceeded to do a body paint in blue tones. All the parts of her body that were visible were painted and shaded to give it contour and shine.

Primero pasamos al set con su vestido puesto, lookeamos el cabello, y procedimos a un body paint en tonos azules. Todas las partes de su cuerpo que estuvieran a la vista fueron maquilladas y sombreadas para darle contorno y brillo.

Then we applied the fins of the arms and shaded them in the same tones.
Then we applied the gills, which at the last moment we decorated with small shells and the same type of leaves of the crown. Blue lips and blue sequins on the outline of the eyebrows.

Luego aplicamos las aletas de los brazos y matizamos para que quede en mismos tonos.
Pasamos a colocar las branquias, que a ultimo momento se nos ocurrió decorar con conchas pequeñas y el mismo tipo de hojas de la corona. Labios azules y lentejuelas azules en el contorno de las cejas.

Finally we placed the ear flaps and the crown. Ready to be inserted into her mysterious world.

Finalmente colocamos las aletas de las orejas y la corona. Lista para insertarse en su mundo misterioso.

It was a beautiful work since it was shared with a friend of all my life, besides she put all her trust in me to create her character and she got the highest evaluation for this work.
