Angers, back to when I was 20! (Part 22)

Our little getaway is coming to an end, and we slowly make our way back to the hotel, still taking a bit of time to enjoy the city. We linger first in Saint-Aubin pedestrian street. The place has that simple charm of Anjou streets, with its peaceful pace and shop windows gradually closing for the day.

Next, we head to the Jardin du Mail, impossible to pass by without strolling around for a while. The park is gorgeous: colorful flowerbeds, well-laid-out paths, and the stone lions proudly guarding the entrance for over a century. Inside, the atmosphere changes completely. We come across the elegant fountain adding a fresh touch, and then the wrought-iron bandstand, as pretty as it is delicately crafted. We happily linger in this green corner, perfect for a walk, sitting down for a moment, or leafing through a book.

Notre escapade touche à sa fin et l’on rejoint tranquillement notre hôtel, en profitant encore un peu de la ville. On s’attarde d’abord dans la rue piétonne Saint-Aubin. L’endroit a ce petit charme simple des rues angevines, avec son rythme paisible et ses vitrines qui ferment doucement la journée.

On continue ensuite vers le Jardin du Mail, impossible de passer à côté sans y flâner un moment. Le parc est superbe : massifs colorés, allées bien dessinées, et ces lions de pierre qui gardent fièrement l’entrée depuis plus d’un siècle. À l’intérieur, l’ambiance change complètement. On tombe sur la fontaine élégante qui ajoute une note fraîche, puis sur le kiosque en fer forgé, aussi joli que délicatement travaillé. On traîne volontiers dans ce coin de verdure, parfait pour se balader, s’asseoir un moment ou feuilleter un bouquin.
