It’s a feast for the eyes — the works on display are outstanding, combining both delicacy and strength. Each sculpture reflects the immense talent of David d’Angers, who mastered the art of blending emotion, realism, and grandeur with remarkable skill.
The setting itself adds to the magic: housed in a former abbey flooded with natural light, the space gives the visit an almost spiritual dimension. At every step, you can feel the passion and precision of this extraordinary artist.
And what a surprise to discover that he was the one who created the famous frieze of the Panthéon in Paris — a true masterpiece of French art, whose original plaster model of the pediment is exhibited here.

On en prend plein les yeux tant les œuvres exposées sont remarquables, à la fois par leur finesse et par leur puissance. Chaque sculpture témoigne du talent immense de David d’Angers, capable de mêler émotion, réalisme et grandeur avec une maîtrise impressionnante.
Le lieu lui-même ajoute à la magie : installé dans une ancienne abbaye aux murs baignés de lumière, l’espace donne une dimension presque spirituelle à la visite. On ressent à chaque pas la passion et la rigueur de cet artiste hors du commun.
Et quelle surprise de découvrir que c’est lui qui a réalisé la célèbre frise du Panthéon de Paris, un chef-d’œuvre emblématique de l’art français et dont le modèle en plâtre original de ce fronton est exposé en ces lieux.
