During our recent family holiday in Scottburgh, we were told about a hidden gem of a restaurant that we had to try. A little slice of Italy right in the heart of Scottburgh. The outside did not ensue much excitement, it is quite an understated building that, if not for their big "Enzo" sign, we probably would have missed it.

However, the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere was like a hug from granny as we walked into her home for a Sunday family brunch. With the salty sea breeze mingling with the aromas of pizza and pasta, we knew we had made the right choice.

As we settled into our table of choice and everyone else proceeded to peruse the menu, I grabbed my best friend (my trusty canon) and snapped a few pictures, trying to capture the homey feel and peaceful atmosphere of our surroundings. The decor was understated yet charming, again, feeling just like sitting in your grandmas dining room. Small trinkets and paintings lined the walls.

The staff were all fabulous, each wearing the kindest, most genuine smile and making us feel so welcome.

In the front of the menu, it explains the meaning of "Trattoria" and basically it speaks about a family-style establishment that is more casual and friendly, and boy did they nail the family-style aspect. It was perfect, felt like we were right at home and I loved it.

While we waited for our food, I played with some angles and light.

We decided to share a couple of their pizzas, and honestly ordered them based solely on their creative names, I loved that they had such fun names on all their food. So we tried the Mona Lisa and the Ricardo.

So in the end, Enzo pizzeria trattoria was more than just a meal but instead an experience. Like being transported back to my childhood days of spending time gathered around the dining table along with my entire family chatting about our days and exchanging stories about life with the added bonus of comfort food.

If you ever find yourself in Scottburgh, South Africa, be sure to treat yourself and stop by the charming spot. You won't just enjoy a great meal, but you will create fantastic memories in a home away from home kind of spot. Just pop through to sit on the balcony to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset over the sea as the smells of pizza fill your nose.
