Life : Weathering the storm

in Emotions & Feelings4 months ago

Greetings!

The struggle and experience of life, they say cannot kill one in life but just to teach us a lesson. As a young boy growing up and having encountered the challenges of life, I have been made strong and when talking, people would think I'm more than my age, maybe through the struggles and experiences of life I have in one time or the other passed through. Life they say will not give you what you want or deserve. Hmmm, this has happened to me times without number.

Let's journey together as I share one of those things I av experienced in life.
In the year 2020, around September, I took a step of travelling to Abidjan the commercial city of ivory coast. Though, I was into doing POS and at the same time refilling gas to the end users in my neighborhood, but when the sales were not increasing and life became unbearable for me, I decided to travel of Abidjan to meet my mum who has been residing in the city after the death of my dad in 2019. So, I closed down my shop here in Nigeria and went abroad seeking for a greener pasture.

On getting to the place, I was welcomed by my mum whom last set her eyes on me 13 years ago, I would have seen her a year before at my dad funeral but I couldn't just because of the restrictions of the covid 19 virus. So, while settling down at my new city, I decided to find something doing all to no avail, maybe because of the language barrier. So, for this reason, I found life unbearable again and it's like moving from frying pan to fire, such that I was regretting moving from Nigeria to Ivory coast. This is because in Nigeria, I was still able to manage myself but there in Ivory coast, I can't even manage myself but to look up to my mum for survival and I was 34 year old then. So, after staying there for about 5 months, I decided to return back to Nigeria, but how do I do this?

So, while planning to return back home, I was not sure of what will become of me. This is because I have sold everything I had before coming down to Abidjan. Even, if i should be coming home, i don't have any transport fare on me. So, I called some of my friends in Nigeria and related with them, thank God for them, they came together contributed and sent me money to transport myself back to Nigeria. A problem half solved, without any hope of doing anything at home.

So, when I got back to Nigeria, I was at first stranded having no place to go and I felt so sorry for myself. As I was trying to navigate my way through the journey of my life, tears began to roll down my cheek and I remember I had a friend who can accommodate me for a while at Ibadan. Then, I quickly brought out my phone and called Muyiwa. When he saw my call, he was excited and I told him I was stranded, we he heard this, he felt so sorry for and was emotional. He asked me to come down to his place and that was how he accommodated me to another six months. Thanks to God and this friend of mine.

Hmmm! It's during our stay together that this friend of mine introduces transport business to me(uber). He said he has a friend that can give me the car on installment. When I heard what he said, I was happy and I thank him for being there for me always. After our discussion that night, that my friend didn't waste anytime. So, the following morning, he took me down to the woman at Ilesha in osun state. When we got there, the woman asked me series of questions which I answered to the best of my own knowledge..afterwards, the woman said I would have to pay a deposit of 320k before getting the car, where would I get such amounts. It's was then I pleaded with her and she helped me reduced the deposit to 250k. So, we left the place and I promised to get back to the woman. Without any hope, I left, but on my way home, i put my shame aside and called those my friends that sent my transport fare the other time and narrated everything to them, they stood up once again and rallied round me. I was able to pay the money to the woman and the car was given to me.
That was not the end of the whole issue.

When I took the car, I took it to the carwash to wash, after that, I was like where would I go and be doing the business. So, I decided to move down to Lagos, the commercial city of Nigeria. Though, I have been to Lagos but never lived there, so the terrain was not clear to me. And as we all know like has rules and regulations when it comes to traffic rules. As If that's not enough, i was just trying to move to Lagos with no place to sleep, well, I av decided to be sleeping inside the car. So, when I got to Lagos, I couldn't get it right and I was only using the goggle map to navigate my ways. On a particular day, I flouted the traffic rules and my car was seized and taken to the lastma headquarters, on that day, I had nothing on me, so I quickly called a sister to my friend who has been helping. This sister has been residing in Lagos for long. So when she came, he helped me to settle the bills and I promised to pay her back.

As if that was not enough, on a particular night, I was to drop my passenger and some people.just came drove and block me, immediately they came out, they were trying to pounce on me, thank God i didn't off the ignition, i just put my car on reverse and sped off. Though they were able to snatch me of my phone. But who knows maybe the car would have been snatched. But i thank God. So, i was able to escape the onslaught at the detriment of my phone. So, i needed a new phone to do the business so, i opted for a easy buy, to be using for my uber business. Which I was paying little by little. And whenever I was unable to pay, the would be locked. All these were tiring back then.

Another thing that happened to, was the sickness. I felt sick during this time and I was not feeling well at all. At first, I thought it was a pile sickness, but it was later that I realized it was more than pile. Then, whenever, I used the toilet, I excrete blood and it will take me three days after using the toilet that I will get relieved of the pain that accompanied the use of my time, I went to hospitals to run series of test but nothing was found. I was getting lean and could not even pay my installments fee. It was so pathetic. The pain was too much. When I noticed it was not medical, I went spiritual about it going from one church to the other. Some even gave me herbs to be taking. But all to no avail. But as God would have it, everything subsided at it time.

The journey was so serious and was filled with pains and emotions but thank God for a better ending. Although i have not got everything right, but I'm on the pedestal of doing great things despite all the odds that came my way, I'm now looking big again. Thanks to God and to those who stood for me. So, the journey was full of emotions and hard feelings. But I than God who made it possible for me to weather the storm.

Thanks for reading.
