Compassion - Acts That Touched My Heart

When I was pregnant with my last child, someone expressed great compassion towards me that left me in awe. You see, there are people in this life who offer their presence and support to others without being asked and without expecting anything in return. I encountered one of these rare gems in those days, and I felt quite emotional about this woman's act of kindness towards me.

Mrs. Stella used to be my neighbor in my former estate, and we do relate very closely, sharing some burdens and helping each other. A time came when my family needed to relocate to another estate far away from the previous one we lived in. I informed her about my movement anyways, but I didn't bother her about any help. The day came, and we were packing our luggage into a big truck, and then she passed and saw what was going on. Immediately, she entered my home and insisted that I stop stressing myself with pregnancy, carrying little loads to the vehicle.

First, she was angry that I couldn't seek her help in such a situation, but I apologized. This woman did not only help me in packing all the load in my previous house but also followed me to my new estate to offload our properties and arrange everything in order. While she was working, she instructed me to just sit down with my pregnancy and not to do a thing at all. Wow, the compassion was too emotional. I didn't know what I had done for her to deserve all the love.

That wasn't the catch; I later had little complications in the pregnancy, and due to how often Mrs. Stella checked on me, I informed her about the development and how I was given complete bed rest at home. This means that I could no longer visit the market or stand up for long to cook or do big laundry and so on. Immediately Mrs. Stella heard about this; she showed up in my home and requested that I write down everything I need in the market. She went and bought all that, entered my kitchen, and prepared different soups and stews and had them preserved in my freezer. The following day, very early in the morning, she came again for laundry and also did clean up in my entire house. I was almost speechless. This is a woman I met here in the city, and she showed me that I am not alone.

She lifted my spirit and never stopped encouraging me that all will be fine with my pregnancy. She kept visiting from time to time until I gave birth. She again offered her presence and support in a way I didn't expect. All the assistance she gave me didn't stop monetary gifts and big diaper for my newborn.

Those moments reminded me of the importance of simply being there for someone; it's a life lesson I learned practically, which I have been implementing whenever the opportunity shows itself.

Finally, my second son of 7 years who is in art club in his school showed compassion to his fellow competitor. Upon hearing the story, I went down emotionally. They were in a drawing contest, and a fellow student was kind of struggling to get hers done. According to my son's teacher, my son immediately assisted the girl, not minding that it was a competition with a prize to be won. This little act of compassion means a lot to me. Just imagine if half of our society can be compassionate like this? I guess you should know the outcome in our world today.

God bless Mrs Stella wherever she is, she is indeed a kind soul and her type is very rare especially these days.

Your son is learning from somewhere, and who else but you and his dad are instilling it in him. You're doing a great job.

Indeed, a kind soul she is...I am lucky to have such a rare gem
And my son, it's baffling 🤩

Yes, you're really lucky to have her.

people who offer help and support without being asked and asking for nothing in return

It is a transactional world we live in and finding someone with the above qualities admittedly takes time and effort. They are unicorns in the forest.

Stella seems to be one.... Hold on to her.

I am holding on to her firmly
Her good deed is a practical lesson

Her good deed is a practical lesson

I agree, a lesson in kindness. A lesson that we are all capable of immense goodness if we learn to give in to the good.

Some people are very kind and they always impress others through their work. I can remember you mentioned about that neighbor once. I think anyone feel lucky to be a friend with her. So, you are one of those lucky one because in the present world you can meet few people like her.
