Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.
I'm going to share a battle in which there was a coincidental combination.
Coincidental Combination
In this battle, I brought the 3 monsters above which coincidentally resulted in a fairly unique combination...
The reason I use Evelyn Auvera is because I want to anticipate if my opponent uses melee Monster(s) that have SNEAK ability. With Evelyn Auvera, Melee monsters that will attack her can be affected by the THORNS ability which deals 2 points of damage (or 3 points if carrying a monster that has the AMPLIFY ability). I will place her in the last position which is the position of the target targeted by Melee monsters that have the SNEAK ability.
The second monster, Stitch Leech. The reason I brought him is because he has the LIFE LEECH ability (in addition to the SNEAK ability he already has since level 1). LIFE LEECH is useful to increase his Max Health points and to anticipate if the opponent uses a monster that has THORNS ability in the last position. With LIFE LEECH , the damage that he might receive later from THORNS (or direct attacks from the opponent if Evelyn Auvera is defeated) is less painful for him because Stitch Leech has accumulated Health using that ability.
And the last monster is Celestial Harpy. With its OPPORTUNITY ability, Celestial Harpy can finish off opponents who have the lowest Health points on the target side who usually have quite troublesome skills (such as monsters with Mana 0) or defeat opponents who fail to be defeated by other monsters. The Celestial Harpy also has the TRUE STRIKE ability that makes each of its attacks always successfully hit the target even if the opponent uses abilities that can reduce accuracy (such as SWIFTNESS and SLOW to widen the SPEED difference or BLIND which is useful for reducing the accuracy of all monsters from the other party, especially Melee and Ranged monsters).
Why did they happen to be a combination? What rulesets are there in the battle this time? Or maybe it's the opponent who's making it easier for me this time?
Battle
The ruleset for this battle is COUNTERSPELL (All Melee monsters receive an additional ability in the form of MAGIC REFLECT ), TAKING SIDES (Neutral monsters cannot be used in this ruleset), and FIRE & REGRET (All Magic and Ranged monsters receive an additional ability in the form of RETURN FIRE )
With the COUNTERSPELL and FIRE & REGRET rulesets, I decided to use Grandmaster Rathe which gives an additional ability in the form of AMPLIFY . With AMPLIFY , the effects of MAGIC REFLECT and RETURN FIRE abilities that all monsters receive through the ruleset can be amplified to 1.5 times.
I made sure to bring a monster with thorns (Evelyn Auvera) and placed it in the last position. This is because it's highly unlikely that the opponent will use Magic or Ranged monsters in these two rulesets. So most likely the opponent will rely on Melee monsters, especially those with abilities that attack specific targets such as SNEAK or OPPORTUNITY .
In the first round, Vruz attacked Evelyn Auvera but instead, he lost due to the effects of his THORNS ability which had been strengthened with AMPLIFY . The Infiltrator who received a stats boost from Vruz's defeat also attacked Evelyn Auvera and suffered the same fate as Vruz who lost to THORNS. Tenyii Striker which has the same SNEAK ability as the previous two monsters is still luckier because he has quite a lot of Health points after attacking Evelyn Auvera and getting hit by THORNS.
Celestial Harpy defeats Scorch Fiend and removes the Attack power reduction debuff given earlier. Radiated Brute and Djinn Chwala attack Blinding Reflector. Corsair Bosun and Blinding Reflector attack Djinn Chwala but only Blinding Reflector is hit by the THORNS effect. Meanwhile, Corsair Bosun can escape because he has the REFLECTION SHIELD ability.
The last attack of the round came from Stitch Leech who managed to land his attack on Tenyii Striker and defeat him.
In the second round, Celestial Harpy attacked Radiated Brute and activated the effect of the ENRAGE ability so that the SPEED and Attack power of Radiated Brute increased by 1.5 times. This made Radiated Brute take the next turn and defeat Blinding Reflector. Djinn Chwala and Corsair Bosun attacked each other. Corsair Bosun managed to dodge the THORNS while Djinn Chwala went into RAGE Mode.
Again Stitch Leech succeeded and defeated Radiated Brute in one attack.
In the last round, Djinn Chwala briefly attacked Corsair Bosun before being defeated by Celestial Harpy and Corsair Bosun.
Battle Review
Whether it was a coincidence or I was lucky, my monster selection this time seemed to create a combination that made almost all of the opponent's monsters lose under conditions that seemed very appropriate. For example, the opponent's 2 SNEAK monsters (Vruz and Dhampir Infiltrator) lost when they attacked Evelyn Auvera. If not using Grandmaster Rathe who has the AMPLIFY ability, maybe Vruz could still survive and only Dhampir Infiltrator lost by relying solely on his starting stats.
With the return of Attack power after Celestial Harpy defeated Scorch Fiend, Stitch Leech was able to attack fully and successfully defeated Tenyii Striker and Radiated Brute*. Although Tenyii Striker was previously hit by THORNS and Radiated Brute was attacked by Celestial Harpy, Stitch Leech was fortunate to land attacks on Tenyii Striker who had DODGE and Radiated Brute who had twice his SPEED.
Those are the kinds of things I discussed in this Social Media Challenge. Thank you for reading to the end and see you in other discussions in next week's Social Media Challenge.
