Greetings, space-faring pilots, evacuees, researchers, and all citizens of the new galaxy! With our leader, @birdbeaksd, gone on special retreat to a sanctuary moon, it is up to me to continue the popular Wrap-Up and associated giveaway! Much new information was dropped by the supreme commander (developer), Elindos, with hints at more tantalizing information concerning Beta to be dropped in the near future.
π Alliance Happenings
@cartel-exode is now what I'm calling a junior member of π ! What does this mean? This means they aren't technically part of our ranks...yet! That's because our alliance is currently full! Later, once π gains some levels, we can unlock more member slots. It's always better to be part of the pack than on your own.
π° News
Birdbeak covered mentioned some small but important technical updates made concerning citizens and tooltips in his last post. No new developments yet since.
However, an informative post has been released detailing the plan for the new and highly anticipated Beta contracts. If you have not already, you can check that out here.
Summary
The new contracts proposed include a starship maintenance pack (shown above), an Achean Gang contract to compliment (or compete with?!) the Syndicate, and a suit modification contract. So soon we will be able to create suped-up Eisen suits which may be more powerful or specialized for our needs!
By the way! Beta contract packs are going to get a new look! So they won't have that same old frame (or shape?) as the alpha contracts!
A new type of contract will also be introduced: the franchise pack. Such a contract may provide useful items like software/hardware, cooking recipes, and tools. This franchise's partnership with TOM Settler corporation will enable captains to take advantage of synergies with existing TOM products! We can probably expect to see more partnerships like this in the future.
There will also be a black market version of the above franchise. Do I smell a partnership with Rekatron? No? Well then perhaps they can illegally modify some of those weapons to make them ever more deadly!
These franchise packs will also introduce an interesting new mechanic. The more of those packs you own, the larger the share of the franchise you control. this, in turn, will grant access to special promotional drops! That's pretty much all we know about that at this point.
Contract packs will be initially released to alpha players for a 10-day window beginning on October 12. It is birdbeak's and my suggestion that everyone who is able, buy at least 1 of each contract. Feeling the FOMO yet, anyone?
More contracts were originally planned to be released but considering the harsh, nuclear, crypto winter we are in the midst of, releasing too many packs (priced at $90 each tentatively) might cause some frustration to players unable to obtain them all.
π Giveaway
This week, 3 different people have a chance of winning:
x1 Holidays
This consumable drug might come in handy on a dark, uncomfortable planet like Casrarene. It comes with 10 doses and grants Happiness but also Slow. Hey, sounds fun! It lasts for 24 hours and upon end triggers the Narcophile trait (wording may change in the future). For 3 whole days, the affected character will be addicted to Holidays (or drugs in general?).
An unhappy citizen won't work efficiently or perhaps not at all. Or maybe you're trying to get Happiness high enough to potentially unlock and "mint" the citizen! It's hard to speculate what we would use this item for at this point.
But enjoy!

I think the suit modification contract is what sounds most promising to me in terms of modification! -Starship modification sounds a little bit to linear to me.
Franchise contract is what sounds most exciting to me, though!
Good post, thanks a lot! !PIZZA
Interesting. Why do you believe ship modding is more "linear"?
Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited to enhance my eisen and other research suits!
!pizza
:D Perhaps it is just that I passed a lot of evacuations and suppose I got something like an understanding of it.
Suits are a lot more "undiscovered territory" to me and I feel like there is so much unmapped territory. So I think enhancing suits will be more like a surprise.
In my mind modifying ships migh give me either a bit of this or that
That's an interesting input here @jdike !
It's true next updates will show it but the ship wreck also provide an emergency workspace, habitat, food storage, life support and energy generator while waiting for the colony to deploy more.
All these equipments can also be upgraded with ship customization!
ah okay, thanks for clarifying! then it obviously has more use beyond my imagination and beyond evacuation phase! exciting, indeed!
Could the extra ship modules be easier to detach and provide supplemental storage, power or quarters depending on the module type?
I wonder if some reward is available for the franchise share that the combined Alliance controls this could add even more interest in Alliance
Good post, thanks a lot!
@listik303
All of the contracts seem very interesting to me!
I wonder if some reward is available for the franchise share that the combined Alliance controls this could add even more interest in Alliance and the franchise contracts, though with their synergistic drops and chance of periodic gifts they are already quite interesting.
Of course the new gang contract sounds great as we saw how interesting that can be in Alpha with the syndicate contract with them dropping a wide variety of items for the gang I am sure it will have both enhancements and drawbacks as with all balanced game mechanics.
Then the two upgrades contracts for suits and ships they are quite interesting upgrades for ships including the ability to add crew and storage seems quite powerful, and with @elindos comment to @jdike it seems sure that the modifications will be quite useful to the colony even while the ship is grounded. Could the extra ship modules be easier to detach and provide supplemental storage, power or quarters depending on the module type? Who knows but it will be #fun and exciting to find out!
Thanks to @birdbeaksd and @proto26 for providing these weekly update posts and also for their suggestions about which contract to acquire. In the end though it stretches my limited budget I decided to follow their suggestion and get one of each(half of my allocation) and only a few of the packs I was allocated.
Thank you for your witness vote!

Would love to buy 1 of each, but just dont have the funds atm. So my favorite picks came down to the armor docks and starbase shop. Reasons being, I need more equipment and I would like to be able to upgrade stuff.
Starbase Shop Franchise sounds the most exciting to me simply because it sounds like it will provide many useful personal colony items! Every pilot in the new galaxy will be dying to get their hands on some of the new gear to pair with existing Tom Settler Corporation equipment. I'm picturing batteries, cookware, lab equipment? small equipables?
