Hello, Pilots!
Based on a couple comments last week, I have wrote this explanation of EXODE's Alpha Contracts and cards. If you have any questions about them, please refer to this post! I go through each card individually and give my opinion on them.
I would like to thank everyone who gave us feedback on a community contest, π [MELN] will likely host one eventually, and we will keep your comments in mind when we do.
@proto26's new π [MELN] branded series is underway! Find the post here.
I'd like to thank @jacobpeacock for the EXODE NFT tips he has given me.
π°News:
We have gotten much more information on wildlife and their attacks, which you can see an example of above. There are more than 43 different types of attacks, including how it attacks, where it attacks, and whether or not it has any special effects (such as poison).
Wildlife attack behavior has been split into 5 archetypes, those being:
β "barbarian (charges right into the group screaming),
β warrior (normal individual combat),
β rogue (hides and ambushes you from behind!)
β ranger (fires/throws/spits or strikes from afar if possible, or attacks in skirmish),
β commander (attacks in groups with hierarchy with commanding creatures and its henchmen)," - @elindosWildlife has different grouping variants, those being:
β "single (or small pack with commander ie 1d6 + 1 units)
β packs (only attacks in packs ie 2d6 units)
β swarm (only attacks in swarms ie 1d100)" - @elindosWildlife can have subclasses, those being:
β "weak" (weak attack and health)
β "balanced" (resists well and hurts a lot)
β "tank" (a rather massive health but weaker strikes)
β "damage" (massive quick damage)
β "spectacular" (a super-heroic way to survive and damage people, a bit like our earth-like flea able to jump one meter and survive a lot of things ; you can't deal with spectacular easily, especially large sized)." - @elindos25 - 40 new unique attributes have been added to current wildlife, with 10 - 25 being combat related and 15 being cosmetic related. This means if you have a planet and have found wildlife on it, they have now received combat abilities. "The new attributes includes combat health, combat courage, but also style of combat (charging you, ambushing you, etc) and the creature available attacks. Creatures can have at least one attack, and sometimes more. Attacks are classified among 44 attack types plus one location variant (with 10 different values) and one damage variant (with 4 different types and 12 possible values), with also 10 power ranks and 10 secondary effect ranks." - @elindos
Away Teams is now accepting new players who have been active in the Discord Server for 2 weeks, and next week will likely bring some sort of gameplay to the challenge. The criteria for joining are:
"be on discord since a few weeks, be active, polite and participative, have some basic understanding of all things EXODE, and of course to want to participate to the current challenge." - @elindosMost (if not all) of the bugs related to the Away Teams Challenge have been fixed. If you were suffering from any of these, hopefully you will not any more!
Two new Alliances have been added, being "Illusions of the Grave [IOTG]" led by @shadow346 and "Star Wolves" led by @Rakhmen (I think). Always cool to see new players coming to EXODE!
πGiveaway:
This week, you have a chance of winning:
1x Black Lotus
In the past, I failed to see the utility of this card compared to the default Navy Lieutenant starting ship. However, I believe that the 3 Equipment Sets makes up the difference of other stats. Being able to bring in an extra one will be invaluable, although the Drachian Mantis is still the best ship in the game if you can upgrade it to max. We do not know what the ship keywords will do yet, so there is no point commenting on them, but @elindos has told me that "Cloaking will make this ship a master of space travel and recolonization."

Thanks for the mention!
I like the Black Lotus. I actually pick it most of the time if I'm making a deck involving criminals. If you include the Kumicho as a passenger, I think the ship also receives a QL bonus just like any characters with the Syndicate trait. When approaching a newly found planet, if aliens are on your tail, you can Turbospeed straight to the planet, forfeiting any time for scanning. Since it also has Tacscan, you can equip it with an Identification Matrix software! Indeed this ship will shine during Recolonization!
I didn't think about the Kumicho granting a QL bonus to the ship, that could make it a lot better. Huh. I wonder if that happens. Will have to ask @elindos.

Please keep doing the full explanations! It really helps.

Seems like the majority of commenters agree.

Hey Birdie!
I quite long the long form explanations...well only because i am very new to Exode, compared to many others who are veterans of the Exode community. In fact i would like more long form posts about Exode, not just the news.
Longform posts like Lore, Character spotlights, card spotlights, item spotlights, gameplay strategy discussions etc.
I'm not sure if this idea is viable or if it has ever been attempted before but fuck it i will take one for the team and propose it ya dig?
thanks and have a good day!
You are not the only one. @proto26 is a good person to watch for more specific posts, however I will keep this in mind as well.
!PIZZA
Nice, i like this new format.

Awesome. I was worried that it was too much like a wall of text, however the commenters have reassured me that is not the case.

I would prefer the shorter ones with a link to where it was mentioned.
Oh wow! I didn't expect our Alliance to be mentioned in this week's updates. Thank you so much π
For the giveaway- I personally prefer the full explanations, because I like having all of the details in one place. I read alot lol!
I personally prefer full explanations on one post so that i don't have to open more tabs :)
Excellent information in that post. Very nice, I think I will refer to this once in a while to refresh the download :)
I think that a summary post is good for those that like to keep informed but do not need the details at the time of reading. I am sure that in the coming months there will be many features added and upgraded at the same release point. To describe them all in one long posting would be hard to produce / maintain, and time consuming to read.
So if a release contains several new features, then a summary of those and links to details IMO would be the best solution.
I also think that all the info should be in the Wiki, as currently that is where the game screens direct you.

@listik303
I think like the full explanations the most, especially in the still early days of the game's development. It's nice to be able to find everything in one spot vs clicking around the find the info you're looking for.
@theacks
Thanks! I prefer the long explanation because im new and it helps me out.
I would prefer shorter ones.
I like full explanation, extra reading never hurt :)
Id say i prefer the full article than the short ones so i can read it in one go without opening separate tabs. and yknow what i think a podcast will do too! itll be handy for those who are busy and can just put it on background while doing their stuff.
Wow! I was lucky winning again, thank you! Missed this post as I was on vacation. But then I can make good use of your WRAP-UP :)
