in Hive Motors3 years ago (edited)

My passion for motorcycles drove me through owning a backyard garage which i call Dog'sCycles. Often i am doing repairs and custom works on friends bikes. With this as causation i decided to make a series of repairs and share them with you.

So, this weak a Kawasaki KLE 500 was in the garage for a front forks repair and some other works that came in the way. Hyperpro springs and fork oil was order and at a first look the owner seemed to happy for his purchase.

It's really refreshing and joyful watching a friend smiling like an eight year old boy that's why the work started immediately.

First things first. The skidplate went of cuase the bike needed to be on a center stand, it doesn't have one so some jacks can do the work, and the disassemble of the front forks starts.

Wheel front fender and forks went off and now it's a wheelie bike, or not. The triple clamps had rust on the connection point and the forks as well. Hopefully the curusion was not deep enough to damage the fork tubes. The springs was off their wear limit by 2cm, as for the oil it was like mud (you are supposed to change fork oil every 4 years by motorcycle companies).

Some good treatment and cleaning and it's time for the next step. At our last ride (because we ride together, that's the purpose of the garage) we went through some muddy red clay and the KLE got it's front wheel stucked because of the fender-wheel gap that is to short. Let's give it some hight he said, and so it happened.

Some metal oil painting to prevent rust and a proper black spay paint.
Some dents on the skidplate (he is a former enduro rider and forgets he has less ground clearance with KLE)
needed fixing too, it was time to bolt on the skidplate and some broken threads disided the opposite. So here are some more repairs.

After some hard work the bike is ready to hit the streets and the mountains of course once again. I am locking forward to ride with my friend and see him have this stupid kind of look full of happiness.

I like the design you have created for the name of your garage, and the happy face of your friend is certainly gratifying, good that you were able to make those arrangements to the motorcycle.

Thank you very much. The design is a gift from a friend who is a graphic designer and I think his work is great too.

Now that is a smile you rarely see, damm he is glad he found you for his bike and you can tell just by looking at his face :D
