Hi friends of HiveMotors, today I will tell you about a new failure that I had after put gasoline and what actions I took to be able to solve it at the moment, and what other efforts I made to make the repair permanent. The action of putting gasoline in my country has become a lottery, you never know what you are going to get, because the one that is made doesn't have all the additives to have the right octane, and the one that is imported comes in similar conditions.
Saludos amigos de HiveMotors, hoy les contare de una nueva falla que se me presento luego de equipar gasolina y que acciones realice para poder solventar en el momento, y que otros esfuerzos realice para lograr que la reparación sea permanente. La acción de colocar gasolina en mi país se ha vuelto una lotería, nunca sabes que te va a tocar, debido a que la que se hace no posee todos los aditivos para que tenga el octanaje adecuado, y la que se importa viene en condiciones similares.
In the past I made several publications where I showed how I replaced the fuel pump, or how I repaired the pump casing that suffered severe damage due to overheating. These actions I have had to repeat several times, because the original pumps that have a greater guarantee of use, are usually damaged also by the quality and cleanliness of the gasoline, that is why I opted to place generic ones that last almost the same, under these conditions, for less money.
En el pasado realice varias publicaciones donde mostraba como reemplazaba la bomba de gasolina, o como reparaba la carcasa de la bomba que por sobre calentamiento sufrió daños severos. Estas acciones las he tenido que repetir varias veces, porque las bombas originales que tiene una mayor garantía de uso, suelen dañarse también por la calidad y limpieza de la gasolina, es por eso que opte por colocar genéricas que se que duran casi lo mismo, bajo estas condiciones, por menos dinero.
The detail is that you never know when the pump will fail, unless you have a definite time to make the change, something like every 6 months, but there is always the hope that it will last longer. On this occasion with this car we already had almost a year with this pump, mainly because it is the car that has been driven less because it has suffered serious breakdowns that have caused it to last longer waiting for repairs.
El detalle es que nunca sabes cuando la bomba fallara, a menos que dispongas un tiempo definido para realizar el cambio, algo así como cada 6 meses, pero siempre existe la esperanza de que dure mas tiempo. En esta ocasión con este carro ya teníamos casi un año con esta bomba, principalmente porque es el carro que menos se ha rodado porque ha sufrido averías graves que han provocado que dure mas tiempo en espera de reparaciones.
The car that we usually use broke down the air conditioning, the repair has a cost of $ 650 USD money we do not have, we never thought it would be so expensive compressor of a small car. Because it was a rainy day we took this car, if the air works to raise the windows, we went to the gas station and put a full tank, but when trying to start it did not, and I had to push the car to the side so that the next one behind me could refuel.
The first thing I thought was that the gasoline stirred up the dirty sediment in the tank, but then I remembered that it never started, what occurred to me next was that the pump stopped working, I got ready to lower it to check and noticed that I didn't have a single tool, I had left all of them in the other vehicle. I had to call whoever could help me, bring me the tools to be able to disassemble, along with a used pump that I have in case of emergency.
El carro que habitualmente usamos se le averió el aire acondicionado, la reparación tiene un costo de 650 $ USD dinero que no disponemos, jamás pensamos que seria tan costoso el compresor de un carro pequeño. Por ser un día lluvioso tomamos este carro que, si le funciona el aire para poder subir los vidrios, fuimos a la estación de gasolina y colocamos un tanque completo, pero al tratar de encender no lo hizo, y tuve que empujar el carro a un costado para que el siguiente detrás de mi pudiera surtir combustible.
Lo primero que pensé fue que la gasolina revolvió los sedimentos de sucio del tanque, pero luego recordé que nunca encendió, lo que se me ocurrió luego fue que la bomba dejo de funcionar, me dispuse a bajarla para revisar y noté que no tenía ni una sola herramienta, todas las había dejado en el otro vehículo. Me toco llamar a quien pudiera auxiliarme, traerme las herramientas para poder desmontar, junto a una bomba usada que tengo para casos de emergencia.
I was sure that it would be that, because of the experience and the many times it has happened to me, also the number of times I have repeated this process has given me speed to make this part change. I tried to turn it on and it did not, I tested the pump directly on the battery with one of the cables that I found and it worked, at that moment I understood that the problem was electrical.
Desarme y monte la otra bomba, estaba seguro que seria eso, por la experiencia y las tantas veces que me ha ocurrido, también la cantidad de veces que he repetido este proceso me ha dado rapidez para realizar este cambio de pieza. Me dispuse a encender y no lo hizo, probe la bomba directamente en la batería con uno cables que encontré y funcionaba, en ese momento entendí que el problema era eléctrico.
When I opened the fuse box I checked the relay that activates the pump, on the outside it looked good, I removed the plastic cover and noticed that when I passed the key it did not activate, I did it manually, that is, I closed the ignition, I gave it to turn on the car and it did. After a while I turned it off and tried to turn it on again without activating the ignition manually and it did, definitely the relay was not working well, I decided to get home so I could check it a little more thoroughly.
Cuando abre la fusilera revise el relé que activa la bomba, por fuera se veía bien, le quite el cobertor plástico y note que al pasar la llave no se activaba, lo hice manualmente, es decir, cerré el contacto le di para encender el carro y lo hizo. Luego de un rato apague e intente volver a encender sin activar el contacto manualmente y lo hizo, definitivamente el relé no funcionaba bien, decidí entonces llegar a casa así para revisar un poco más a fondo.

Already at home I took the multimeter to see in detail what was happening, the first thing that came to my mind was to test if voltage reached the relay to activate it, it was the most obvious thing to do. To my surprise it only had 9 volts, I took the battery voltage and it had more than 12, then the voltage drop was due to a cable that was perhaps sulfated, therefore, I had to remove the fuse holder and see in detail.
Ya en casa tome el multímetro para ver a detalle que pasaba, lo primero que vino a mi mente fue probar si llegaba tensión al relé para activarlo, era lo mas obvio. Para mi sorpresa solo tenia 9 voltios, tome la tensión de la batería y tenia mas de 12, entonces la caída de tensión se debía algún cable que quizás estaba sulfatado, por lo tanto, debía quitar el porta fusibles y ver con detalle.
But something curious that happened is that, when placing the relay, the voltage dropped to 0, and when I activated the relay contact manually this was maintained, even if I turned off the car it was activated again without help, I thought that perhaps the coil doesn't dissipate all the voltage and when receiving the 9v it is still activated. I checked the wires very closely and everything looked fine, so I must have a whole day, without any other occupation to check the wires, as it is a thorough task but also tedious.
Pero algo curioso que pasaba es que, al colocar el relé, la tensión caía a 0, y cuando accionaba el contacto manualmente del relé este se mantenía, incluso si apagaba el carro se accionaba nuevamente sin ayuda, pensé que quizás la bobina no disipa todo el voltaje y al recibir los 9v igual se accionaba. Revise lo cables muy por encima y todo se veía bien, así que debo disponer de un día entero, sin ninguna otra ocupación para poder revisar los cables, ya que es una tarea minuciosa pero también tediosa.

Hola sé lo difícil que es buscar una falla eléctrica porque en ocasiones veía a mi papá tratando de detectar los cables qué presentan la falla. Espero que logres encontrarlo en poco tiempo y que tengas éxito. Saludos 👋
Si definitivamente son fallas dificiles y tambièn tediosas, revisar el ramal de cables es un proceso largo, reemplazarlo es un trabajo complicado, bien espero resolver, gracias por tu comentario en verdad lo aprecio.
Mis historias de estar accidentada con mis papas, son incontables, una vez duramos 12 horas en la entrada de Barquisimeto porque se daño una pieza, podrás imaginar CÓMO hicimos para arreglar el carro en plena autopista, tuvimos que llamar a miles de mecánicos y solo uno viajó desde la ciudad hasta la entrada de Barquisimeto (Somos de Maracay, Aragua, no sabíamos que hacer porque estábamos super lejos) y duramos muchas horas en buscar la pieza, regresar, la pieza no era, vuelve a gastar para el taxi para comprar la pieza, vuelve otra vez y agh pare de contar
Esa vivencias son las más duras como olvidarlas, pero algún aprendizaje queda y nos preparamos mejor para futuros viajes. Nunca he estado 12 horas accidentado debió ser un calvario
Hola, estos contratiempos siempre causan mucho estrés, las averías eléctricas son mañosas cuando crees averla resuelto aparecen nuevamente. En algunos casos los concesionarios no las arreglan.
Que tal Greg, oye si son las que más dolores de cabeza dan, en el país son pocos los técnicos buenos que quedan que sepan trabajar con este tipo de falla, mecánicos hay muchos, pero electricistas pocos, por eso estas fallas me dan muchos dolores de cabeza, más cuando uno cree haber solucionado y no es así.
No hay peor que estar accidentado, mas aun cuando son cosas que se pudieron prevenir como lo es una bomba de gasolina o similares piezas, sin embargo asi es la vida, por lo menos me alegra que pudieras salir de alli y poner el vehiculo en movimiento y que no fuera algo gravisimo que dejara a tu persona y a tu vehiculo quedado fuera de tu casa y obligado a una grua.
