BVB wins in Wolfsburg - Bayern without problems vs. Frankfurt
Today - Borussia Dortmund increased the pressure on FC Bayern with the victory in Wolfsburg, who countered with a clear win against Frankfurt. Gladbach, on the other hand, lost against Leverkusen and thus lost ground in the race for Champions League. Way down the league table Werder Bremen sent a sign of life with the three-way in Freiburg. In the capital city derby on Friday, Hertha had left Union no chance.
The top duo of the Bundesliga on a joint win streak
VfL Wolfsburg's series of seven unbeaten games (4/3/0) ended on Saturday against Dortmund, while the BVB series is still on hold against the Wolves - the 2-0 win means nine wins in a draw in the last ten duels (26:3 goals). The Favre team had more ball possession, but could not develop a goalscoring potential. Until the 32nd minute, when Guerreiro refined a beautiful combination. BVB were lucky with Steffen's batten goal shortly after the break, and the Favre eleven showed their class when Hakimi (78th) scored 2-0. Wolfsburg's joker Klaus still saw red (82.). The BVB is well prepared before the hit against FC Bayern.
Bayern struggled only a bit
Germany's record champion solved his home task in the evening in front of Franz Beckenbauer and Uli Hoeneß in the end with 5:2 (2:0). Goretzka and Müller set the course before the break, and seconds after the restart everything seemed clear with Lewandowski's 27th goal of the season. A Hinteregger double strike within three minutes created a brief moment of suspense in Munich and challenged the Flick eleven to increase their pace. This ultimately resulted in a clear home triple and revenge for the 5-1 draw in Frankfurt in the first half of the season, which cost Niko Kovac his job. One thing is clear: The Bavarians go into the duel with BVB on Tuesday evening (6:30 p.m.) with a four-point lead.
Havertz double pack in Gladbach
Mönchengladbach suffered a sensitive 3-1 defeat to Leverkusen in the derby on the Lower Rhine and even let Bayer (Leerkusen) slip past them in the league table.
Werder Bremen is back
Freiburg is close to its annual goal of maintaining its class, but the magic 40 point mark did not fall against Bremen. Rather, Werder sent a signal to the sports club after only one draw from the last seven games and a 4-1 re-start failure to start against Leverkusen with a 1-0 win. Bittencourt put the team from the Weser River in the lead after 17 minutes, which Bremen played with great effort right up to the end and outnumbered them in the final minutes (Bargfrede, Yellow-Red, 88th). A Freiburg goal was denied by VAR in the final minute - offside.
Paderborn with a draw but not enough
SC Paderborn are still waiting for their third home win (2/2/10) after the 1:1 against Hoffenheim and remain at the bottom of the table. Hoffenheims Skov took advantage of SCP's sleeplessness after only four minutes, and Srbeny quickly made up for the loss after a Bikakcic stoppage time. The first goal ever in the sixth match against TSG did not provide any security. The Kraichgauer dominated the action, but were lucky that a Rudy defensive attempt only landed on the crossbar. In the second round Paderborn pressed for the urgently needed threesome, but it was not to succeed.
Berlin Derby: Köpenick's going to be in for a beating
Hertha still had a score to settle with Union for the first leg (1-0 for the Ironmen), and the revenge was to take place in the empty Olympic Stadium on Friday evening. With Labbadia -Hertha is back in business.
