RE: Rainy Cricket

Not sure, why we have so many frequent low pressure situations this year, anyone knows why it happens ?

Hey Sir, being a student of Geography, I can explain to you why in Sept generally we have such cyclonic precipitation and/or flash rain.

During June (S-W Monsoon time) the Sun is directly above the Tibetian plateau and hence creates a low-pressure region over there that is conducive to South West Monsson.

But in September/October that shifts to the Bay of Bengal and hence the low-pressure region is created in the Bay of Bengal and as a result, the coastal belt receives frequent rainfall.

By the way, I was expecting the scorecard:)

The sixties team made 67 in 10 overs and we ran short of it by 7 runs :) So the older guys are fitter than us. Good explanation on the low pressure, but this year has been completely catastrophic, having continuous low pressures for last 2-3 months. I don't think, it rained like this in last decade, so anything special for this year ?

Yes, this time it's a bit erratic. But if u r living on the coromandel coast, and if u r receiving rainfall in winter, then it's quite normal. Because Coromondal coast is the only region that receives rainfall in winter and it does not get rainfall during the southwest monsoon, because Tamil Nadu is located on the leeward side of westernghat.

Conversely, the Northeast monsoon gets obstructed by eastern ghats and causes rainfall over the coromandel coast.

By the way, it's always good to have more games among veterans, that's a quite healthy way of socializing in this ultra-busy and hi-tech world.

I live at Bhubaneswar, Odisha where by this time winter should have come. And never did we experience this much rain earlier.
