The league games finished with an unexpected result this week and we also saw a game being called off. The game between Tottenham and Burnley was postponed as the heavy downpour of snow made the field football unplayable. Many had expected the game to call off due to the condition of the field and it was finally confirmed towards the talk end of when the match will be kicking off.
At the other end of London, Chelsea took on a Manchester United side that looked determined to frustrate the blues and at least get a point from the encounter. When the red devils' lineup was made known, many would have been shocked by the absence of Ronaldo, but Coach Carrick's plan was to frustrate Chelsea at the middle of the pitch while waiting for a mistake. Chelsea did make a mistake and that got Sancho a goal, but Chelsea equalized and took a point from the game instead.
While Chelsea dropped point, their rival Liverpool was working hard to cover more ground by winning against the saint. A convincing four-goal thriller helped Liverpool reduce their point gap to 2 points and boost their morale further. Even though Salah and mane didn’t get on the score sheet, a brace from Jota and a header VVD coupled with the goal for Tiago won the game for the reds.
Manchester City also got a win against Westham in a tightly contested match where Lazzini scored a late screamer for West Ham, but it came too late and counted for little. Manchester City could not play their natural style of football as the field was bad due to the snow, but they still got the result by playing the ball a little high and looking for spaces in tight corners.
Despite their 4-0 bashing in their last match, the Gunners claimed all three points in front of their home crowd and the result was pleasing. Despite their captain and talisman, wasting goal-scoring chances, Saka was able to spare his blushes to put the gunners in front. The positive note for the coach from the match is that they got two goals and kept a clean sheet in the process. They are also currently placed at 5th on the premier league stands. That shows how far they come.
The fox defensive woes continue as they leaked two goals against Watford, although they got the win, but their defensive crises will be something the coach will be left to ponder on. Vardy was on the scorer list with his brace, but Ademola Lookman's goal gave the fox the win. Ademola's goal spared the blushes of his Nigerian counterpart Ndidi who had given a penalty to Watford.
Steven Gerrard is having something of a fairy-tale campaign at Aston Villa as he records his second win in his second game against another midfield great (Viera). The match was tough for both teams, but Aston villa edged crystal palace in their home with a goal. The win will further boost Coach Steven's confidence in the premier league, and he will be looking forward to facing the big dogs in the division.
Norwich picked up a point as they battle it out with wolves. the point was good for Norwich, but wolves would have wanted more from the match but above all, Norwich will marvel at the clean sheet they got. Brighton and Leeds also shared the spoils with a goalless draw as the match showed how great the backline of Brighton was.
In summary, this week was a great and successful one. The teams played their hearts out and the result gotten by some was favorable but they will have a go again next week.
