Antoine Griezmann has never really found a foothold in FC Barcelona since joining the club from rival Atletico Madrid.
A number of fluctuating performances for the French star have made Barcelona's impatience bad, and therefore the Spanish big club will now reportedly part with the striker, who has only played in the club since the summer of 2019.
Should one believe the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the Catalans work thus on sending Griezmann back to Atletico Madrid, where he enjoyed great success under Diego Simeone.
The media writes that Barcelona will make a big barter deal with the competitor in a desperate attempt to lure midfield star Saul Ninguez to the Catalan. According to that newspaper, the great interest in Saul is due to the failure to bring Gini Wijnaldum to the club, who instead took a trip to Paris Saint-Germain.
Therefore, Barcelona still has a big gap in the midfield to fill, and according to Mundo Deportivo, this has meant that the club has said the hunt for the Atletico star, which can ultimately send Antoine Griezmann back to the club where he got his quite big breakthroughs.
At the same time, the newspaper writes that Saul Ninguez should have expressed that he is considering an exit from Atletico Madrid, which probably has not made the rumors less.
Barcelona have already upgraded in this transfer window, as the Spanish big club has brought players like Sergio Agüero, Memphis Depay, Emerson and not least Eric Garcia to Camp Nou.
Antoine Griezmann will only have a contract expiration with Barcelona in the summer of 2024.
Honestly if I may say something concerning this, I would say Griezmann should leave the club and look for another club where is effort will be felt.
No one can ever believe the player will not shine brighter than he was when he was in Atletico Madrid. Griezmann happen to be the best player for Atletico and he was always a treat to the like of Barcelona and Real Madrid. One would believed he would play better with Messi but unfortunately he has not been performing up to expectation for Barcelona.
A friend of mine use to believe that there are some players that are meant for small team and there are some that are meant for big team. He further says if a player that is meant for small team plays in a small team, his impact will be felt better than when he plays for big team.
Though I am not saying this is what happen to Griezmann but I believe he needs to leave and join a team that his impact will be felt.
Due to the fact that the France international has not been able to settle nicely at the camp Nou, it might be best he seek a career else where so has not to further dampen his career.
Would love to see the Antoine Griezmann the world once knew during his time Atletico Madrid. Going back to his former team would not be a bad idea.
I can imagine Him and Luis Suarez partnering up-front at the Atletico, it would be really nice. Hope he makes the right move on any club he decides to move to.
