Pretty much all bets I took in the cup lost but the good thing is that I kept them to a minimum with tiny stakes as I learned from last seasons. The fact that 1st division teams rotate heavily but play against lower league teams while getting huge handicaps feels impossible to properly predict. Making hero calls on what feels value doesn't seem to work. In the match yesterday I had no real opinion so I fully skipped that even having no live bets. Plenty of action today with positions on each of the 3 games!

Standard vs Sint-Truiden

Standard so far have overperformed so far this season based on the quality they have in their squad. This mainly because their coach opted to fully focus on the defense. In the matches where they tried to go a bit more forward or had to because of the opponent it always resulted in a struggle. In the mid week they played an amateur team at home but didn't get further than 2-2 and had to play extra time which might add to the fatigue. Their more recent results also haven't been as good as the start of the season with just 1 win in their last 5. They also are without Bates who is their most important defender and Ngoy. Stvv had somewhat the opposite season so far being nowhere at the start while many players were not there yet but in recent weeks after the coach change they have been quietly impressive and picked up a good flow taking only 1 loss on the last 5 matches while also easily winning 0-2 against Lierse in the cup. The only thing that Standard has going for them is the home advantage but that didn't keep me away from betting 0.3 units on Sint-Truiden +0.25 @ 1.959 along with 0.1 unit each on Standard Team Total under 1.25 @ 1.910 & Stvv Team Total Over 1 @ 1.930. Stvv is actually leading the xg over the last 3 matches an they also went over corners each time after their new coach came with an average of 13.3. Standard however isn't the highest corner team so I might wait for a better line in-game.

OH Leuven vs Club Brugge

OHL started the season well and I still see them as a team who can put up a result against anyone. However, they haven't been in the best streak just winning once in the last 5 matches. That was last week away against an out of form Charleroi. OHL was not great but had 100% finishing and didn't get in trouble defensively which is one of their strong points setting the lowest xg against out of all teams over the season at just 1.01 on average. They also rank near the bottom on xg created at just 1.01. This made them an under team across the board going 7.5W-3.5L-1P against the total line. This despite the being the highest corner team going 11W-1L on 10 or more corners. Club Brugge has been a team that has been improving yet still they are some distance away from winning matches with 4+ goals which on paper they should perfectly be capable of. They nearly always start their matches strong in the 1st half which I believe is where the edge is especially away where they haven't lost a single 1st half and lead the standings. I took 0.3 units on Club Brugge 1H -0.25 @ 2.004 along with a 0.2 unit bet on Club Brugge Team Total Over 1.5 @ 1.860

KV Mechelen vs Union SG

KV Mechelen has been the team in form this past month and they top my rankings of team with the best match score over the last 3 games. They also continue to be a team who play more open resulting in goals at home while locking things down away. Union SG has not been bad and play with similar intensity compared to past season with the main difference in that they seem to unable to create open chances and finish as the quality in the midfield and offense isn't what it was. I was surprised to see Mechelen as such an underdog at home but at the same time kind of understand it. The bet that did catch my eye was the Mechelen Team Total as I do expect an open match where both teams are willing to go forward. Union is also missing Mac Allister along with Castro Montes. I took 0.5 units on KV Mechelen Team Total Over 1 @ 1.978 and also took a bit extra with a crypto bet on it. As always, I'm also leaning on the Over corners bet in Union matches but I will wait to possibly bet a better line in-game.
