The Giants 2020 season is officially over. There were some bright spots, but there were plenty more dim spots.
With that being said, it is time to look forward to the NFL draft. This is a special moment for players, coaches, and fans alike as we get to see new young talent injected into the league. And the Giants need plenty of talent so I’m going to be writing about what my personal pick would be if I were running this team.
The Giants will have the 11th overall pick. In all honesty I am shocked we aren’t in the top 10 with how our season started. Most of the extremely “elite” talent will be off the board by this time with the exception of one player who I believe will fall right into our laps.
Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons is expected to be available at this pick and what a steal that would be for us. We are in need of a long term answer at linebacker (Blake Martinez was a good one year plug but he’s getting older and older).
Micah is a 6 foot 3 inch physical specimen weighing in at 245 lbs. unfortunately due to covid he opted to not play this season but his sophomore year stats say enough about the caliber of player he can be. With 109 total tackles (52 solo), 14 tackles for a loss, and 5 sacks, he is everything you could ask for in the modern NFL linebacker. If we need him to stop the run, he is more than capable, if we need him to rush the passer, he can do that too! He has a knack for forcing fumbles which is always a good thing (4 forced fumbles his sophomore season) and looks to be a solid option in pass coverage.
So while the season did not end how I wanted, I am hopeful the Giants front office will make a smart choice this off-season during the draft and maybe even sign a few free agent players too.
