Two Good finishes in the Darts at home

The Darts

I don't watch the darts much from one end of the year to the other. I might land on it while channel hopping, but I'll usually keep going and find a football match on.

However when Christmas comes around and the PDC world darts championship comes around, my sons and I are glued to it.

I'm not sure what it is, but the darts at Alexander Palace seem to be the pinacle of darts and we spend a lot of time watching telly this time of the year.

Last year we were gunning for teenage darts protege Luke Littler. He fell just short and Luke Humphfries came from behind to beat him. Had he won, he would have made history and become the youngest world champion ever and by a distance.

Michael Van Gerwen would get to keep his record for one more year, having won his first at the age of 25.

Littler was the best player throughout the tournament, although Geordie Rydz really impressed me with his scoring, doubling and most especially his absence of vowels in his surname!

All this darts on telly at Christmas made us decide to buy our own dart board for the shed, and we play a few times a week. It's amazing how much better you play, when practicing a bit.

When I pop out to the shed for turf, or a bike or whatever, I'll throw a quick round of 301, and although my scoring wasn't great below, my finishing was world class taking out 70 and 57 by hitting the required double with my first dart in both instances.

Sure it's not big fish 170, but 70 is just shy of my personal best of 74, and I did it with 17 darts which I think is a PB too.

My son is getting better too, but he's only eleven, so struggles to compete, especially with double finishes. He's beaten me twice in around 100 games. I gave him €10 for the first win, which was the agreement if he beat me.

He finished on double 3, which is his favourite double, as it's at his eye level. Hitting high doubles is tough for him, due to his height.

Taking out 57

Truth be told I was going for 17, double tops. I hit 15, so then went for 2, double tops and pulled it off.

Taking out 70

I like double 8, so I was actually aiming for treble 18, double 8 finish, so this one was really pleasing.

The photos above show my doubles. @cryptoandcoffee I remember you posting about Littler. Do you play darts? What highs have you taken out? Same questions to any other sports fans who may be reading?

These photos are all my own taken on my Samsung Smartphone.

Thanks as always for stopping by everyone

Peace Out

I have a board out in my garage that I have been meaning to put up for a while, but I have just never gotten around to it. Maybe one day...

Ya should do it, it's great fun throwing a few darts with friends or family. We really enjoy it.

Maybe at our next house. I don't think I have a good place to put it at our current one. I was going to put it up in the garage, but it gets too cold out there in the winter and too hot in the summer.
