What a superb shot, did you use a remote trigger of some kind? Never knew there were digger wasps to be honest. We had a wasps nest in the eaves of our house this summer and the interesting thing was, the insects coming and going, hundreds of them were non-hostile. I guess you could say wasps normally appear to be hostile because we (silly humans) disturb them!
