Hoy, último día del año, desde temprano comenzaron a aparecer unos extraños personajes en mi pueblo. Parece que esperan algún importante acontecimiento. Algunos se han sentado pacientemente. Otros están más activos y se mantienen de pie.
A pocas horas de despedir el año 2024, vuelve la tradición. Los extraños personajes representan el año viejo y justo a la media noche se irán junto con este.
El fuego, elemento purificador, devorará sus cuerpos rellenos de cualquier material que se preste para la ocasión. Con ellos se irá "lo malo" del año que termina y quedaremos "limpios" para recibir el 2025.
Está jocosa tradición forma parte de otros muchos rituales populares que se hacen para conmemorar esta fecha. La quema del muñeco de año viejo se integra a la alegría por la llegada de un nuevo año que despierta la esperanza de mejoría y prosperidad que tanto necesitamos.

A TRADITION TO BID FAREWELL TO THE OLD YEAR
Today, the last day of the year, some strange characters began to appear in my town early in the morning. They seem to be waiting for some important event. Some have been sitting patiently. Others are more active and stand.
A few hours before saying goodbye to the year 2024, the tradition returns. The strange characters represent the old year and just at midnight they will leave along with it.
The fire, purifying element, will devour their bodies filled with any material that lends itself to the occasion. With them will go "the bad" of the year that is ending and we will be "clean" to receive 2025.
This jocular tradition is part of many other popular rituals that are done to commemorate this date. The burning of the old year's doll is part of the joy for the arrival of a new year that awakens the hope of improvement and prosperity that we need so much.
