Arch Enemy - Bury Me An Angel instrumental cover

in Guitar4 years ago

This is an instrumental cover of the song Bury me an angel which is the first track of the first album (black earth) from Arch Enemy. Back in history when it was with Johan Liiva which is waaaaaaaaaaaay back haha.

I love the album Black Earth since it has so many good songs on it. The guitar parts, the melodies, the drums... just killer. I especially like the song Cosmic Retribution. The part starting from 1:32 with the solo transfering into the acoustic solo and the buildup back to the distorted solo.... goosebumps every single time.

so... I recorded all the guitar and bass guitar parts and used EZdrummer2 for the drums.
They are 5 guitar parts in total (2 rhythm, 2 lead and 1 solo part).

The tuning of the song is B and I used the SuperDuper guitar amp sim from ML Sound Labs.

This recording is something that I am the most proud of doing. I really like how it turned out regarding the sound overall.

Let me know what you think !

Awesome I love Arch Enemy as well. Did you find the midi for that song's drums somewhere? Which drumkit did you use from ez drummer?

I transcribed the drums in TuxGuitar and then exported the midi file so I could use it in EZDrummer.
I used the Metal! , Mark Lewis Fat Metal Room Kit with the Huge Kit Snare.

Awesome I've never heard of tuxguitar I know superior drummer 3 can theoretically take an isolated drum wav and convert all the parts to midi. That's probably why its so expensive.

Tuxguitar is basically open-source GuitarPro. It's not as packed as GuitarPro is, but it can do the basics just fine.
SuperiorDrummer is way too expensive for what I'm using it for haha

I use cakewalk as my daw and it has a drum replacer for wav, though I haven't tried using it before. I'm getting by fine on superior drummer 2 and my roland handsonic as a midi controller with midi snap in cakewalk. I'll give TuxGuitar a look, I tried GuitarPro but found it a bit too clunky to use to just play along with tabs I found on the internet.

I must tell you that I loved your performance and I'm a big fan of this band since the Angela era. This song is not one of my favourites, but it is a valuable addition to my playlist on headbanging afternoons. Your work is great. I hope to keep seeing you around.

You should be proud of that. Sounds great. Do you record all the audio into a DAW and video whilst you do it? I see videos like this and it looks like a lot of work.

It's definitely a lot of work. I do believe that it helps with timing, playing more tightly when recording it over the drumtrack as you have to do all by ear and really understanding what exactly is happening overall.
You also have to learn how to play all tracks, which is a bit more time consuming haha

I need to do some more recording of multiple parts. Not sure if I will do video as it can distract me from the audio side. I've only got so much time for music.
