Ladies brunch - What a lovely surprise!

Holiday

Today was a holiday here in Spain, namely constitution day. The kids are all free from school and most other things are closed as well. I slept in for an extra hour while my boyfriend and daughter were already up at the same time as they usually are. The kid can't sleep in so it seems, lol.

I was happily surprised that I had an order today and when I checked if the package drop off point was open, they were only an hour shorter than the regular days. Great for me because then I don't have to rush there tomorrow as Monday is another holiday, at least these were my thoughts initially. It turns out that they are open on Monday as well, lol. They are smart business people who take advantage of the fact that many people's business continues even during Spanish holidays, I like that!

Let's go for a walk!

My daughter asks me regularly to go for walks again so I figured today is a good day, nice weather, let's walk to the drop off point (I hate parking on the busy road there) as it's only a 10 mins walk anyway. Good to get some fresh air and get business sorted at the same time. She wanted to practice basketball first but I convinced her to go after we returned. I prefer walking together, it's more fun.

No breakfast yet

When stepping outside the drop off point, I noticed I felt dizzy and realized that I didn't eat yet. I only spent time listing more items, taking pictures and in between I forgot to eat, oops. The rescue was near because close to the drop off point there is a little bar that I never visited before, it looked super cute inside so I said let's sit here for a toast before walking back home.

Salmon toast for me please!

I saw toast with salmon on the menu and knew this is what I want, no hard choice for me, let's go! My daughter on the other hand is more difficult, she always tries to find out if they serve churros for breakfast, which most places don't but even if they did, it was too late for that anyway.

I told her pick something else or wait until we return home as her father had grilled chicken wings ready anyway.

She made a little fuzz and I felt a bit embarrased as the man tried to help her pick something and nothing was good enough, same story every time. Meanwhile I waited for this plate to arrive which made me smile instantly!

Not only did I get my toast but I received a little banana part and some fresh orange juice as well. Lovely! I could see these people have heart for their business and I appreciate that. I'm surely going to return to take my boyfriend because we can use some places where they serve good stuff that happily surprise us and are still within reach. The issue is normally the distance.

Empanada?

Meanwhile the man returned and my daughter asked if they had the hamburger tapa, I knew they wouldn't because it wasn't tapas time yet but I let her find out this for herself. The man explained it was too early but what about an empanada with chicken only? As he already learned she's not an easy one to please, lol.

To my surprise she agreed and so not long after he returned with the empanada and my daughter was happy:

It was chicken with some herbs, actually lovely in taste for something with no veggies added in there. I was surprised. She ate it completely and I told her that she had to let the man know that she loved it beacuse I knew it would light up his day because she seemed like a tough cookie to please at first.

One more please!

I was still hungry and I figured it's already lunctime anyway so hit me up with another toast so I won't have to eat at home afterwards and can get back to work right away..

This time I received some white grapes with a few parts of fresh pineapple and I thankfully ate it all! I felt fully reloaded after having these two plates, the combination with the juice was also very good!

The toast with the fruit and juice cost €2,80 each and in total I was set back a little less than 10 euros with the empanada and a bottle of water for us to share. Well worth it because I had a little break from the computer and some ladies time with my daughter while we supported a small local restaurant with care for their business, so I felt happy we did.

Looking for new places to eat

Lately we are bumned about the lowering of quality standards of some of our (previously) favourite spots and decided we will not go there anymore as it's a disappointment every time that we do lately so it's good to try out new spots because surely there are more hidden places like this.
