[ESP] | [ENG] - Bitácora de una Coffee Lover: Carbone, café de especialidad

Luego de un largo rato sin salir a recorrer Caracas con el objetivo de conocer nuevas Cafeterías, finalmente, este Diciembre regresamos al ruedo. Todo comenzó a inicios de esta semana cuando una reunión que se suponía sería de forma online terminó siendo presencial y el lugar seleccionado para ello fue Carbone, una cafetería de especialidad ubicada en el Centro de Chacao. Al final de cuentas, el hecho de que la reunión haya sido modificada de una manera tan drástica fue bastante positiva porque me llevó a este pequeño espacio que, a pesar de conocerlo y haber escuchado su nombre en muchas ocasiones, nunca me había regalado la oportunidad de visitarlo.

Como el lugar me pareció bastante agradable, me prometí que regresaría pronto a probar algunas cosas. Porque sí, los que me conocen saben que cuando el lugar me gusta mucho termino por frecuentarlo hasta probar casi todo el menú. Además, un punto adicional para Carbone es que es un lugar perfecto para sentarme a dibujar un rato, sin mencionar de que los chicos que atienden son muy amigables y atentos.

After a long time without going out to explore Caracas with the aim of discovering new coffee shops, we finally returned to the fray this December. It all started at the beginning of this week when a meeting that was supposed to be online ended up being in person, and the venue chosen for it was Carbone, a specialty coffee shop located in the center of Chacao. In the end, the fact that the meeting was changed so drastically was quite positive because it led me to this small space that, despite knowing about it and having heard its name many times, I had never had the opportunity to visit.

I found the place quite pleasant, so I promised myself I would return soon to try some things. Because yes, those who know me know that when I really like a place, I end up frequenting it until I've tried almost everything on the menu. Another plus for Carbone is that it's a perfect place to sit and draw for a while, not to mention that the staff are very friendly and attentive.

En mi primera visita no tomé ninguna fotografía, dada la obvia razón de que me encontraba en una reunión y no era una simple visita de paseo. Sin embargo, ayer a mitad de tarde se me antojó un café y pensé que sería perfecto volver a Carbone para cumplir con este antojo. Mi segunda visita ocurrió antes de los previsto, pero eso es lo divertido de no planear demasiado las cosas, ¿no crees? Apenas entré al local, Bryan (el chico que nos atentió la primera vez) me reconoció de inmediato y se tomó su tiempo para explicarme cada opción de café que tenían disponible y me dio algunas sugerencias de postres con los que podría acompañar el café.

Esta vez quería un café distinto, algo que no fuese usual tomarlo con tanta frecuencia. Así que cuando Bryan me habló del Carbone Orange, un espresso con Rhum Orange me dije: ¡ese es! A ver, esto consistía en espresso con licor de naranja de la marca Venezolana Santa Teresa, la mayor productora de Ron de mi país. Así que básicamente, esto no podría salir mal. Esta opción parecía ser la que necesitaba para activar todos mis sentidos. Acompañé este shot de dopamina con una porción de torta de banana porque realmente a cualquier sitio a donde voy esta opción es mi favorita.

On my first visit, I didn't take any photos, for the obvious reason that I was in a meeting and not just visiting for fun. However, yesterday afternoon I felt like having a coffee and thought it would be perfect to go back to Carbone to satisfy this craving. My second visit happened sooner than planned, but that's the fun of not planning things too much, don't you think? As soon as I walked in, Bryan, the guy who served us the first time, recognized me immediately and took the time to explain each coffee option they had available and gave me some suggestions for desserts to accompany my coffee.

This time I wanted a different coffee, something I didn't usually drink so often. So when Bryan told me about the Carbone Orange, an espresso with orange rum, I said to myself, “That's the one!” This consisted of espresso with orange liqueur from the Venezuelan brand Santa Teresa, the largest rum producer in my country. So basically, this couldn't go wrong. This option seemed to be just what I needed to activate all my senses. I accompanied this shot of dopamine with a slice of banana cake because, really, wherever I go, this is my favorite choice.

El café con licor de naranja fue una excelente opción a degustar. Simplemente quería algo diferente y nada salió mal. La porción de torta también estaba increíble, un poco más seca y menos dulce en comparación a otras que he probado en diversos locales por la Ciudad pero para mi estándar estaba increíble y pasaba la prueba. De hecho, los trozos de chocolate que tenía resaltaban al 100% y me percaté de que el chocolate con el que elaboran sus productos es de la marca Franceschi, otra marca Venezolana excelente.

Dado que Bryan intuía que me convertiría en una clienta frecuente del local, me dio una tarjetita de fidelidad para próximas ocasiones. Así que lo más probable es que, en efecto, esté de visita una tercera vez antes de lo que imagino.

The coffee with orange liqueur was an excellent choice. I just wanted something different, and it didn't disappoint. The slice of cake was also incredible, a little drier and less sweet than others I've tried in various places around the city, but by my standards it was amazing and passed the test. In fact, the chocolate chips stood out 100%, and I noticed that the chocolate they use in their products is from the Franceschi brand, another excellent Venezuelan brand.

Since Bryan sensed that I would become a frequent customer, he gave me a loyalty card for future visits. So, most likely, I will be visiting a third time sooner than I imagine.
