Cravings Satisfied: A Street Food Adventure!
Edited using Canva.
(blog series), I will be featuring the food that I grew up with, street food. Come and join me, and together let's enjoy the mouthwatering and tasty Filipino street food along the streets of Lapu Lapu City, Cebu.Hello dear hivers, I am @marfeatures, and I am back with a new blog. How are you? I hope you are all doing well. For today's "blogserye"
Filipino streets are no Filipino without street food. Who doesn't like street food? It's what most Filipinos grow up with. Aside from it being tasty and delicious, its affordable price makes all the difference. I am a Filipino earning a minimum wage; of course, I only eat what's affordable, hahah. Going back, street food is common to every corner of the Filipino streets, and each place offers a distinct food native to them, just like the "chicharon" of Carcar and "bibingka" (rice cake) of Catmon.
GIF from the web.
Here at Lapu Lapu City, I will show you just some of its offered affordable street food, from fresh fruits to boiled, steamed, and fried street food. Yes, you have a variety of options to choose from; you can either choose healthy, fresh fruits cut in front of you or indulge yourself with fried street food that will surely heighten your cholesterol level, hahah. All I can suggest is that you eat moderately; as for me, I just eat occasionally, twice a month, since paydays are on the 15th and 30th of the month, HAHAH.
π€TEMPURA!
First on our list is the famous tempura, it won't be out if you talk about Filipino street food; it's side by side with fish balls. It is primarily made from flour and fish paste, but it comes with many variations of ingredients and flavors depending on the place. To cook tempura, you just have to deep fry it and eat it with a sauce like vinegar with cucumber and onions.
πPOTATO FRIES!
π½SWEET CORN!
Potato fries are also on our list; potatoes sound healthy, but the fries sound a little bit alarming, especially if you're talking about cholesterol; that's why you should eat moderately and responsibly, haha. Next is the sweet corn topped with cheese powder; all I can say is that it's mouthwatering. It just bursts in your mouth and, of course, is delicious. This is a must-try street food here. If you've already tried one, share your reviews below; I would love to read them and exchange our thoughts.
π§‘PAPAYA!
πCITRUS!
If you are looking for a healthier one, then you have to try their fresh fruit series; they have lots of fruit to choose from, but I only tried papaya and citrus. These are some alternatives if you don't want much fries and cholesterol. I super enjoyed it, especially with the papaya; its sweetness coincides with the sourness of the vinegar sauce; it's just flavorful.
πFRIED CHICKEN!
Of course, this blog won't end without the fried chicken; this is my common staple ever since, especially during my college days. You can buy one piece of chicken for only 20-25 pesos and partner it with "puso," or rice wrapped with coconut leaves; dinner solved, hahah.
π£BALOT!
Moreover, your street food experience wouldn't be complete without the star of Filipino street food, the "balot." This is my most favorite among all street food. I can eat even ten simultaneously, hahah. With salt and vinegar, it's just perfect and complements very well. Have you tried balot? Share your experience about it in the comment section below; I would love to hear from you.
Overall, Filipino street food has a lot to offer; what I showed is just a glimpse of the variety of street food you can try in the streets of the Philippines. That's all for now, Hivers. I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog. Help me reach a bigger audience by upvoting, commenting, and reblogging. Have a great day ahead, everyone. See you in my next blog. Bye bye! πππ·β¨
Hello Marfe. Very entertaining blog, I loved reading it and learning about philippine street food. Many things that I had never heard or name but that I would try, although that looks like an egg no hahahaha.
I give you a little tip, in this type of publications where cultural issues are shared is always interesting to share the prices of things in USD, so that we in other parts of the world can have reference of whether it is expensive or cheap :) It is always interesting to compare how economies work in other countries.
I wish you a lot of success with your blog. best regards!
Thank you so much @lauramica for appreciating my blog, maybe on my next blog about food and the likes, I will include prices both in peso and usd, thank you for your kind suggestion.
By the way, yes balut is an egg. Balut is a popular street food in the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries, which is a developing duck embryo boiled and eaten from the shell. It cost from 15-30 peso or roughly 0.258 - 0.516 USD.
I searched the internet a bit more about it and I would definitely never try that! hahahahahahahaha it's very impressive. But it's also very cheap indeed
Hahaha, that's okay it's not everyone's cup of tea but most of us like it, it's addictiveπ .
I love eating street food! Every time I have extra money from my school allowance, I always buy some outside the campus
Me too @lorene08, it's always the convenient food I can afford.π πβ¨
