I have been observing this community for a long time, although on our table "something between two pieces of bread" can be found very often, mostly when we are in a hurry or hunger relentlessly pursues us, there was rarely time to capture some of those bites.
Sandwiches and I have been friends for many years since childhood, through excursions, birthdays, celebrations, school lunches... until today, when one of those "unbearable hungers" struck me.
Can I single out a favorite?
No, although a sandwich made of a French croissant, a piece of ham and melted yellow cheese is etched in my memory, had it years ago - never found it again.
After it comes pan sandwiches, at least I call them that way as they are toasted directly on the pan - these I can have whenever I want!
Speaking of flavors, it's impossible to choose one since the combination of sandwiches seems endless to me.
How many combos can one make?
No one will ever no, but I know one fine crunchy minimalist aromatic combo that will make you want more. Also, worth of mentioning, pan prepared sandwiches are great solution for yesterdays bread leftovers.
Finely chopped fresh basil and parsley, quickly marinated with coarse salt and sunflower oil, in case you have mortar, don't hesitate to use it and thereby improve the taste of the spices, grind them as much as possible!
Cut the bread, of your choice [although it is a winning combination with seeds], into slices. Lightly oil the frying pan and heat it, then put the slices of bread to bake on a low heat.
We don't want to over-dry it, but we definitely want to bite into the crispiness first, coat each piece of bread with a brush and oil from the marinated spices.
When browning is satisfactory, place a teaspoon each of basil and parsley on one sandwich bread slice, add the meat...or does sandwich really must contain meat?
Absolutely no! Actually one of the most wanted version is with cheese, lot's of cheese and pepper!
Two slices of ham will perfectly match the taste of basil, in other words, this is like a pesto sandwich with nice thin pinky line in between.
Shape the sandwiches, press them with a spatula, turn a few more times and you're done!
The toasted sesame just brought out the complete atmosphere with its nutty taste, the ham added to the juiciness, and the "pesto" taste comes at the end as a wonderful sophisticated yummy touch.
Crunchiness at the first bite, and the second, and the third...
...and as long while it lasts.
Looks so yummy and I think I would love this too. I like those sesame seeds in it.
It was so yummy 🤣 sesame seeds are welcome everywhere!
I really don't know how you do it, actually I do 😜, but your posts always make me hungry. Thank you for this delicious and simple recipe, it will surely be a success in my kitchen soon!
Hunger made me do it 🤣 I should be avoided in late hours, but hey this one will take you max 10 minutes and success is guaranteed!
Much thank you :)
@alt3r...
I would say... welcome to the Club of Sandwiches Community! I did so love this post... a wonderful creation with not only a story but amazing photos to boot! I loved the dark-toned theme mixed with the images of your sandwich... Though I would encourage you to share with your readers what device you've used to take them! Now... this particular part is really what grabbed my attention:
What a simply wonderful "descriptive" explanation of what sandwiches mean to you, and why they do... As you explain your "recipe" I can close my eyes... smell the smells... taste the tastes... I would have to leave that crunch for you, however, as I don't have any teeth lol... Anyway... I am sure @mondoshawan will appreciate your addition to his community! Just please remember... consider sharing your devices with your readers!!

Low key food was always something I like (to see and do), especially when it comes about sandwiches and burgers 🤤, next to technique, Nikon D7200 is what makes it happen followed by Nikkor 35mm - usually I do not state equipment in non photography community. ;)Hey @wesphilbin many many thanks for your kind words!
For teeth-less peeps I do recommend glass of yogurt next to it.
Once again, thank you for your feedback !LUV
