Father's day
Third Sunday of June
- .Every story begins with an idea, then events come and at the end, those who continue to propagate this idea; In this case "Father's Day".
The idea was proposed for:
Sonora Smart Dodd in Honor of his Father
Sonora Smart Dodd in Honor of his Father
The events occurred for the year 1998, when Sonora was 16 years old, her mother died in childbirth with her sixth child. Sonora was the only daughter and she shared with her father (William Jackson Smart, United States war veteran, year 1865) the upbringing of her younger siblings. She idolized her father, for having raised her and her five siblings single-handedly on a farm in Washington state.
In 1910, Sonora came up with the idea of "Father's Day" while listening to a sermon on Mother's Day in the Church. He proposed the date for June 5, which was his father's birthday. but due to the haste in the preparations, it was decided to run the date for two weeks.
The first Father's Day propagation took place in Washington on June 19, 1910. Word had spread and people joined in the celebrations. Masses were celebrated as a tribute to the fathers in other cities of the United States. It has been officially celebrated throughout the United States since 1924, when President Calvin Coolidge declared it a national celebration.
In 1966 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed a proclamation declaring the 3rd. Sunday in June as the date for the celebration of Father's Day. The celebration was gaining followers and spread throughout the world, yes, with different dates and traditions.
Thankful for everyone's reception, I say goodbye, see you soon ...

• ✦ • ✦ • ✦ • ✦ • ✦ | ✦ • ✦ • ✦ • ✦ • ✦ • ✦
