🗞 US Secret Documents, How the Role of Ansor in the PKI Era 🗞

A total of 39 secret documents belonging to the American Embassy in Indonesia in 1964-1968 that reveal some facts related to the series of events of 1965 re-open the dark history of the Indonesian nation. Some documents mentioned some Islamic organizations in Indonesia participated in a series of massacres of members and sympathizers of the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI), one of them Ansor.

In a telegram dated November 26, 1965, from the US Consulate in Surabaya to the US Embassy in Jakarta, for example, mentioned the involvement of Ansor who participated in massacring PKI members. "A missionary returning from Kediri on November 21 saw bodies floating in the river while missionaries returning from Mojokerto saw 29 bodies," quoted in the telegram.

As a result of the massacre as many as five stations in East Java are not operating due to left behind its workers. They prefer not to work after hearing many of their colleagues were slaughtered.

Not only that, many of the actors ludruk, who became pockets of supporters of the PKI, were slaughtered. The Ansor youths were slaughtered by cutting the throats of PKI members and calling this a "holy war" for killing the unbelievers.

When asked for his response related to the document, Chairman of the Youth Movement (GP) Ansor Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said not know the truth of the secret documents. Especially concerning the involvement of Ansor who also referred to in the document.

Especially from the Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) there is no instruction slaughter when tension occurs. If confidential documents from the US Embassy are true, says Yaqut, there are several things to be aware of, namely to look at the situation at that time.
Meanwhile, according to Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, the document can not necessarily be part of the investigation process.
