How’s it going, Steemians? Today, I wanted to post about something I found a couple of years ago in a field on my property: A Native American arrowhead!
I know you’re probably wondering “How did he find it? Does he live on a former Native American camp site? Is he some kind of archaeologist with a specialization in Native American studies? Did he invest a bunch of money and time on equipment and digging for artifacts?”
Actually, no. I just kind of found it sitting on the ground of a recently tilled farm field.
I’m not sure what tribe this arrowhead would have come from, or how old it is (although there does appear to be some wear on it, and the tip has been broken off), but it’s still in really good shape. Part of the edges are even still slightly sharp!
It really goes to show what interesting history is beneath our feet just waiting to be discovered. Wherever you live, chances are people have been there for a long time and left behind a lot of their stuff (jewelry, money, pottery, etc.). There’s something so awesome about finding things that were probably used hundreds of years ago, especially when it’s practically in your backyard. Start digging!
