Small details

The fine details of two old houses in the old town of Neuburg are my topic of today. The fact that the story is noticeable here at every turn have probably been made clear in my previous articles. Doors that have been committed 400 years ago, doors that are no longer used today, and an alley that looks twisty and mysterious.

Kleine Details

Die feinen Details von zwei alten Häusern in der Neuburger Altstadt sind mein heutiges Thema. Dass die Geschichte hier auf Schritt und Tritt spürbar ist haben meine bisherigen Artikel wohl schon deutlich gemacht. Haustreppen, die schon vor 400 Jahren begangen worden sind, Türen, die heute nicht mehr benutzt werden, und eine Gasse, die verwinkelt und geheimnissvoll erscheint.

A 94

The former edging maker hous, which dates back to the 17th century, lives up to its name. The three-storey corner house has its eaves towards the street side, probably the gable should be seen from the west side, and thus at the entrance to the Herrenstrasse. The front door was doubled in the 18th century, which means that the outside was provided with another layer of wood.

Seinem Namen alle Ehre macht das ehemalige Bortenmacherhaus, das im Kern aus dem 17. Jahrhundert stammt. Das dreigeschossige Eckhaus hat seine Traufe zur Strassenseite hin, wohl sollte der Giebel von der Westseite, und damit beim Eintritt in die Herrenstrasse zu sehen sein. Die Hauseingangstüre ist im 18. Jahrhundert aufgedoppelt worden, das heißt, dass die Außenseite mit einer weiteren Bretterschicht versehen wurde.

At this two-storey corner house, the front door is hidden in the alley to the house No. 94, its history is not documented, but also seems to be from the 16th century.

Bei diesem zweigeschossigen Eckhaus ist die Haustüre in der Gasse zum Haus Nr 94 versteckt, seine Geschichte ist nicht dokumentiert, scheint aber ebenfalls aus dem 16. Jahrhundert zu sein.
