The official mascot is currently only four, but in the future it is likely to continue to grow. And someday it won't be impossible for there to be a Firefox mascot from Indonesia

Is mascot important? Do not underestimate its presence, because the creation of this mascot carries a certain mission that is quite important, one of which is like being an ambassador to market and socialize the use of Firefox in a country. This pitiful mascot is designed by Sean Martell based on the idea of Chris Beard in 2006 and was first introduced to audiences by the name of Renardo at a conference of Firefox developers located in Mountain View, California. Its appearance became very popular at the SXSW Interactive conference (creative industry festival in the city of Texas) in 2007 and aired on DL.TV. Because the mascot looks like a very small fox, it is named Kit (baby fox).

Making this mascot is the desire or invitation from the developers at the Mozilla Developer Center to build the web using open standards and open source technology. With so freedom to spread intellectual knowledge / intellectuals can continue to be done, and also the ideas and creativity are not restrained by the owners of closed standards.

Kit's face is designed in such a way that makes many people see it feeling sorry for the mascot and it seems that the maker wants this campaign not to be seen as something that is compelling or attacking but rather a sincere invitation and touching the hearts of many people so softly that they want to support the campaign.

This mascot was born in September 2006 from the hands of the Japanese Mozilla team and as we know Japan is famous for its funny and unique cartoon character design, as well as with Foxkeh. Foxkeh name (pusatuke) is the result of donating more than 7000 members of the Firefox user community in Japan. The name Foxkeh (pronounced Fokusuke) comes from a combination of FIREFOX and SUKE (common ending names for boys in Japan).

Since it first appeared FoxKeh has helped spread Firefox, with its appearance in Vox Banner Contest, a poster that explains the history of Firefox, a monthly wallpaper complete with Foxkeh dates and images in various actions, Firefox promotional video series and much more.

Initially all Foxkeh trinkets appeared in Japanese writing and were displayed on the site http://foxkeh.jp/ , but with the many requests from outside Japan finally made a blog located at http://www.foxkeh.com/ which in English language.

I think this is one of the best themes that are worthy of your collection.

4. HISTORY OF FIREFOX LOGO

redfoxjpg.jpg

The four mascots above and also the Firefox logo that you often see have in common, namely making them inspired by the form of one carnivorous animal. Then how the story originally so that the logo shaped a red fox with a flaming tail is embracing the planet earth can be created?

It all begins with the desire of the Mozilla foundation to design a future for the Mozilla brand and its visual identity. Due to the breadth of the scope of projects that Mozilla undertakes, it creates confusion about the use of Mozilla names / brands that are described by users as a web browser application, application package, platform and overall collection of application projects with no obvious restrictions.

For that in 2003 started from Mozilla Suite version 2.0, which is an application package consisting of 4 desktop applications, each has been given a name and logo. One of them is a web browser named Mozilla Firebird. But the name did not last long and finally by Ben Goodger was changed to Mozilla Firefox.

Then in 2004 the Mozilla Visual Identity Team was formed led by Steven Garrity. The team is tasked with improving the quality and consistency of visual elements (icons / logos, basic themes, etc.) of Mozilla products. Jon Hicks in charge of making illustrations of the Firefox logo was initially a bit of a difficulty with the Firefox concept. Finally inspired by the Japanese painting of a fox, it finally appears that the image looks more like a cute red panda.

In the end, the chosen design was the concept of Daniel Burka and the sketch by Stephen Desroches. And redesigned by Hicks using the Fireworks MX and Photoshop applications for creating icons. And it was first used for the Firefox browser version 0.8.

This Firefox logo concept finally became the basic concept for Mozilla Thunderbird Camino, and many other Mozilla products.
