The Nigerian Civil War.
commonly known as the Biafran War (July 6, 1967 - January 15, 1970), was a war between the Nigerian government and the Biafran separatist state. Biafra represents the nationalist aspirations of the Igbo people, whose leadership feels that they can no longer live side by side with the Northern-dominated federal government. The conflict occurred because of the political, economic, ethnic, cultural and religious tensions that preceded the formal decolonization of Britain against Nigeria from 1960 to 1963. The immediate causes of the war in 1966 included a military coup, a coup d'état and the persecution of Igbo who lived in Northern Nigeria. Control over profitable oil production in the Niger Delta plays a vital strategic role.

Changes Biafra joined Nigeria.
Within a year, the Federal Military Government surrounded Biafra, captured the coastal oil facilities and the town of Port Harcourt. The blockade imposed during the next stalemate caused severe famine. During the two and a half years of the war, there were about 100,000 military casualties in total, while between 500,000 and 2 million Biafran civilians died from starvation.
In mid-1968, images of malnourished and starving Biafran children filled the mass of Western countries. Biafrans's hungry situation is a cause in foreign countries, allowing a significant increase in funding and the prominence of international non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Britain and the Soviet Union are the main supporters of the Nigerian government in Lagos, while France, Israel and several other countries support Biafra. France and Israel gave weapons to the two combatants.

I detest war, only the weakest are those who suffer and never even know why.
