J.Russell Jones was in his early 30's when he had this home built for his wife and family. He had spent his childhood years in the same small town that I grew up in a century later, so I find his life fascinating. He had connections with General Grant and Abraham Lincoln and the beginning of the Republican party.

Thanks so much, @rebeccabe! It is a beauty. When I was a kid it was empty and falling into disrepair, so it is such a pleasure to see it so beautufully restored.

it is a beauty

That is GORGEOUS! Have you ever gotten to go inside? I bet it's magnificent.

I believe back in the 70's someone was.opperating an antique shop out of a few of the rooms on the first floor and I was in there then. I have not been in there since it was restored and they began giving tours. Many of the furnishings came from Liberace's estate. And the green velvet drapes came from the movie set of Gone With the Wind.

That is neat! If you decide to go, don't forget to post about it!

They sure put up some nice fancy trim!

Glad I don't have to paint it!

So beautiful!!! Thanks @melinda010100 for share.

Thank for the comment!!💕

I love this house, it's so wonderful to see how different cultures influence architecture.

The history articles about the house are all about him, with only brief mentions of his wife, but I always wonder how much of that design was her choice.
