A great sports project of Basketball
January 7, 1927 saw the first match of this famous Basketball Project 1927 - the Harlem Globetrotters played their first game in Hinckley, Illinois. This Basketball team was the creation of Abe Saperstein of Chicago who was coaching Afro-American players at the time where only white players were allowed to play professional basketball. The Globetrotters showed everyone since foundation and until the basketball scene opened up to blacks who was a better team! They are a mystery and been subject of some Hollywood Movies and are known across the world!
Officially the team is called "an exhibition sports team" which means they do not compete but do shows. They for sure onw a high entertainment value - this was honored also when the team was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Since 2002 the athletic skills have been honored with the induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Since foundation the Globetrotters played over 26,000 exhibition games in more than 12 countries of the world.
