A dream Car was born
It was 1953 - a cold winter day, January 17 when the dream of sports car fans was unveiled: The prototype Chevrolet Corvette sports- the iconic American muscle car which is still produced at present! GM wasinterested in developing a two-seat sports car in the 1950ies to fight the European dominance in sports cars. The Corette was the American answer that included features such as all-fiberglass body, white exterior and red interior, a relatively unremarkable 150-horsepower engine and a starting price tag of around $3,500 (0.33 Bitcoin currently!).
The marketing was pushing the exclusive VIP car to a closed community - bad idea, only a portion was sold! The initiative was skipped in 1954 but still the sales was behind expectations. In addition Ford came with their Thunderbird who was a huge sales success.
The car still remained in production and they found a new designer, a guy called Zora - a Belgian-born, Russian-raised guy who was appointed as head engineer for Corvette. He was the one that transformed the Corvette into a legend
The Corvette developed into a high-performance sports car, powerful engine equipped and was setting speed records on racing circuits.
