This is a piece I studied whilst doing my Architectural Design at university. Each day I walked passed it to get to my first year courses, and as the seasons changed to autumn, I felt like it would be a great piece to sketch for my practices.
The building itself is quite large and is in the heart of our original Adelaide CBD design.

The angle I chose to take was of an extreme perspective and I enjoyed making the viewpoint feel as if it towered above you. The building itself is historical in every context. For one it was the most expensive building of its time (1867 - 1872), and was designed and overseen by a famous and devout architect Edmund Wright. He however would not complete it.
The tower is 46.9m in height with the original plans having planned for it to be taller still.
Using South Australian Limestone, the facade has survived and developed a brilliant bleach that is stained by time and ware.
I hope to get more of these done in the future as this is quite old (many others that I had may be lost to time) but if any arise I will post them.
amazing sketches!

It's been a recurring theme in a lot of my posts.
Notably the Christmas present giveaway required that the clocktower be in the entry selfie.
It was also the focus of one of my earliest posts back in Sept 2016.
Great to see some history on it. Cheers :)
Amazing piece of our history and deserving of its own theme! Glad it has been of interest
