In fact bad luck is a concept without any foundation beyond superstition. But why is this date related precisely to supposedly negative circumstances?

Thirteen is a number that has been given bad luck since antiquity. Thirteen were diners at the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, in the Jewish Kabbalah are listed 13 evil spirits, in the Apocalypse the antichrist comes in chapter 13, and in the Tarot this number refers to death.

But why Tuesday?

Tuesday is derived from the Latin Martis, day consecrated to Mars, a planet that in the Middle Ages was called 'the little malefic'. According to Greek mythology, Mars is the god of war, so Tuesday would be ruled by destruction, blood and violence. On the other hand, the legend says that a Tuesday 13 occurred the confusion of languages in the Tower of Babel ...

Thus, since medieval times, in Spain and Greece, and also in Latin America, it is considered that the coincidence of the day of the god of war and death with the number of death bring "bad luck." A popular superstition that also collects the proverb: "On thirteen and Tuesday, neither marry nor embark."
