National Anthem of the Federation of Malaya
Lagu Terang Bulan, the national anthem of Perak was chosen as the National Anthem of the Federation of Malaya. The selection of the national anthem has been performed by the National Song Election Committee chaired by YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman, Chief Minister of the Federation of Malaya.
Four songs have been eligible for the final selection of National anthems. Following this, the Election Committee has decided to elect the Perak State National Anthem as the National Anthem of the Free Merdeka Federation. Selection is made based on the elements of humor that appears on the Moonlight song.
The decision of the Selection Committee was later submitted to the Conference of Rulers for approval. The national anthem for the first time was played on the crowd during the night of August 31, 1957 at the Selangor Club Field.
