Port Charlotte Whiskey - Single Malt

Single malt whisky is a high quality whisky, which under certain conditions may bear this name. This includes, on the one hand, that they only come from a distillery, i. e. they are pure and no waste, and on the other hand that only malted barley may be used for the production. Maturation over decades increases the quality of whisky. The way to Single Malt: Grinding the barley malt produces scrap, which is poured in mash tuns with heated spring water from the region or surrounding area of the distillery. As a result, the sugar dissolves in the water, the process is repeated several times and the residues are used as animal feed.
After brewing, by adding yeast, the broth is collected and stored in tanks.
With an initial content of 6 % alcohol, several distillations yield an alcohol content of 65-7 0%. After the inspection, under customs supervision, the distillate is decanted into oak barrels and sealed. After a maturing period of at least 3 years, usually longer, the filling follows. Barrels can be blended to improve the taste, age specifications always refer to the younger whisky. Storage in the bottle preserves the quality, but does not enhance a 10 year old whisky. Friends of the CLASSIC MALTS announced a classification for malt whisky in 2007. Luxury food or more? Anyone who appreciates a good wine will answer this question with ease.
