Malikussaleh was the first Sultan of the first Islamic kingdom in the archipelago, the samudra pasai. He reigned in 1267. His real name is Meurah Silu. He is a descendant of Sukee Imeum Peuet. Sukee Imeum Peuet is a descendant of four brothers who came from Mon Khmer (Champa) who was the first founder of pre-Islamic kingdoms in Indonesia, among them Maharaja Syahir Po-He-La who founded Peureulak Kingdom in East Aceh, Syahir Tanwi who founded Jeumpa Kingdom in Bireuen, Poly Syahir (Pau-Ling) who founded the Sama Indra Kingdom in Pidie and Shah Nuwi founded the Indra Purba Kingdom in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. The name Malikussaleh is now immortalized as Malikus Saleh Airport in Lhokseumawe.
