A Brief History of Underwear Women's Underwear

in #hisory6 years ago

Each epoch had its own ideal of a female figure. From time to time the criteria for beauty changed greatly. What was once thought fashionable today seems ridiculous. And, nevertheless, the dazzling female body always obeyed the laws of fashion. At different times attention was paid to various parts of the female body, some reduced, others increased. Sometimes it reached almost unthinkable extremes.

The first underwear came, probably from one of the ancient Greek islands. These fascinatingly beautiful Greek women used a bone corset close to the stomach, but not for the slimming effect, but to attract men, showing their beautiful high breasts. This, of course, is not what we wear today, but the desired effect of underwear has not changed. From time to time the female figure has acquired new ideal forms, depending on the fashion. As each ideal form arose, the underwear developed to enhance the desired shape.

In medieval times, it was believed that the female breast should be small and firm. Many types of corsets were worn for the sole purpose of flattening the chest. It is said that the modern corset was introduced by Catherine de Medicis, the wife of King Henry II of France. During the 1550s, she introduced fashion to thin waistlines and had a dubious effect on women over the next 350 years.

With the development of society, science and medicine developed. And much began to be questioned and criticized, including fashion. Public opinion and facts, supported by doctors, have achieved that bone corsets were actually outlawed in many places. By the beginning of the 19th century, fashion had brought forth new innovations. Fashion still demanded the support that the old corset created. It was still used, but it was more convenient, it was easier to move.

Fashion at the time drew attention to beautifully emphasize the chest. Master corsets named M Leroy (he developed a wedding corset for Marie Louise from Austria, when she married Napoleon Bonaparte in 1810), the corset model was improved. The most significant aspect of this, perhaps, was the fact that women could dress and undress themselves thanks to a more sophisticated new lacing design.

By the end of the XIX century, the corset supported not only the breast, but also stockings. They were fastened with garters and suspenders, which were then attached to the corset. By the beginning of the 20th century, significant changes had taken place in the manufacture and wearing of underwear. With the onset of the industrial revolution and the introduction of the sewing machine, Germany and France increased production capacity for the production of corsets.

In 1910, Mary Phelps Jacob invented a new type of brassiere. Mary, along with her maid, sewed two silk handkerchiefs together with a ribbon and cord. This object was much softer and shorter than the corset, and it allowed to beautifully shape

In the 1930s, one of the biggest achievements in the underwear industry occurred when Dunlop Rubber developed the elastic two-sided stretch textile Lastex, made from a thin thread of chemically modified rubber called Latex. It was possible to combine latex with a fabric that allowed the industry to make underwear, correcting a woman's body.

At the beginning of the Second World War, due to changes in the economy, underwear was made from knitwear. Not the sexiest material for underwear, but at least it can warm. At this time, underwear did not shine with variety. And if adult women somehow reconciled, then adolescents became the target market. The underwear industry has developed kits that were intended specifically for young girls.

In the US, the underwear industry was trying to create something new and modern. Women were offered a huge variety of all kinds of underwear to help them look sexy. Film director Howard Hughes designed for Jane Russell a new bra, a special device reinforced with wire. Jane's breast looked incredible because of the innovative enhancements of the brassiere.

The sixties was a terrible time for the underwear industry thanks to the growth of women's emancipation movements. Feminists burned their bras, and many underwear companies were forced to close. But the development and introduction of Lycra allowed women to wear tight leggings - a famous element of fashionable clothing of that era. A sexy mini-skirt and a bikini came into fashion.

In the 1980s, a bra-reinforced bra became very popular. He is currently still in demand, the bestseller at the moment is a seamless bra. It is not visible under the clothes, it is suitable for any most frank outfits, the breasts look beautiful and natural. The female form is changing, but it is not as receptive to fashion trends as in previous times. women's underwear is big business. A self-respecting woman will never refuse to purchase beautiful underwear. The choice of sexy underwear is huge: from a modest elegant bra to the most unusual options.
