RE: Hardfork 21 - Steem Proposal System (SPS) + Economic Improvement Proposal (EIP)

Okay, okay. Listen, with all due respect, I get it. You don't like it here. By the sounds of it, you've been dwelling on that fact for a long time now. It's time to move on, clearly this place isn't for you. That's fair. It's not for everyone, no problem, it's not a big deal. You have nothing left to prove to anyone here. We'll carry on without you. No point in burning bridges or going out with a bang. Good luck with your future endeavors.

Sort:

I am not burning bridges and I generally like all the witnesses and appreciate that Steemit INC actually made a good product. But since Dan left a lot of things went awry. I wish things would get better, and we have seen some changes in the leadership recently so maybe things will turn around.

I write comments and articles because I want them to do better. A censorship resistant social media is awesome.

If there are problems with my suggestions I am all ears.

I think a 50% curation reward will just bring in more people looking to get rich who don't get about the ecosystem and culture of Steem. currently 75/25 rewards gets an 15% to maybe 21% APR. 50/50 could get you as high as 50%(depending on when you vote and if you are one of the first voters you earn more).

In such a system where someone could buy 200k USD of Steem and blindly upvote anything and everything, they would earn potentially 72k USD a year at current prices. Thats enough money to quit your job and just run an upvote bot that upvotes. I don't want to see Steem become more of a place where people are buying Steem just to upvote and make money without providing content/culture/purpose/etc.

Something as an alternative to free downvotes is to establish a downvote council similar to how we have Witnesses. Everyone votes for a Witness and Witnesses can be kicked out by losing SP that backs them. Such a thing would be great for voting on a Downvoter Council.

The Downvoter Council or maybe call them "mods" or something, would be the ones with the free downvotes. So lets say someone has 250k SP of backing for this role, that would give them X amount of free downvotes. Your free downvotes are deteremind by who backs you similar to how high ranked you are as a witness.

That would be a far better way of doing it because those people are held accountable. If a Downvote Council member starts downvoting stuff in an abusive way they could lose the SP backing them, whereas giving everyone free downvotes just gives everyone more downvotes without any structure/thought/purpose.

It's good to see you're able to pull some positives out of your bag of tricks as well. I just left a comment about how I kinda see things, using an analogy, comparing this place to a venue hosting a comedian. That's how I'm hoping things go. I have a lot riding on this and I want to see something good come out of it. I earned that wallet of mine the hard way, started with nothing, all organic. For someone in my situation, taking a smaller cut, but having a packed house instead of empty seats means I make more money. Potential SP I lose from posting, I can make up by curating. I've always been a manual curator. Every vote I handed out, all 24k of them, came after consuming either the post or reading the comment. Anyway, I gotta run.

Just some advice, if you're in the mood for it, before I go. You're asking for math and facts, metrics. Hey, I get it. You're also offering up some of your own opinion, without backing it up with the things you demand. You're assuming it'll go your way. It might not you know. I don't blame you for being pessimistic though. I get it. Please have a good day and thanks for being a good sport. I'm not the easiest guy to talk to, sometimes. A little bit looney.

I enjoyed our conversation, no ill will at all my friend :)

I appreciate all the comments from you on the fork and steemit in general. I’m loosing faith this platform can even be what it was b4 let alone be better. Thanks for speaking truth!
