Maintenance Test Flight

in #helicopter7 years ago

Beautiful sunny winter day for a flight. The R-44 just had a 100-hour inspection so I did a leak test and went for a local flight.

Prior to the first flight of any pilots day, a full daily inspection of the aircraft is mandatory. As you can see in the main rotor head below, all bolts are marked with paint to easily identify if one has come loose. There are many things to check manually as well as several other indicators throughout the vessel to alert the pilot of potential problems.

Headed back. You can see the frozen lake has too much snow on it for skating, but it is ideal for ice fishing.

I can remember you offering me a ride in your new helicopter - but I can't recall you actually giving me one :-)

Well then that means you need to come back :)

i really enjoyed this post... i wish to fly one day...

I love it, thanks for the detailed pics of the helicopter

good post...
I never felt how to ride a helicopter, I really wanted to feel it.

can i have a ride i love to be in air naver got a chance please

I always enjoy your posts my friend!

Always on an adventure, looks like lots of fun...

Whoooo the frozen lake so awesome. Sol.eday I will be travelling like you

I bet you really had some majestic views from in the chopper, those little ones are so much fun to ride in!

Yes, they are the ultimate RV lol This one is a 4 seater (R-44)...the R-22 is smaller and even more of an ultimate RV :)

That's so awesome! I've only ever flown a plane before...but I guess it's technically cheating because I had a co-pilot. I like to say I did it by myself though, because he was too busy dancing to Black Eyed Peas to be flying anything...

Helicopter rides fascinate me :-), I have never done one. I am sure it must be quite an excitement, and you have some gorgeous views captured.

very bold, may be it was thrilling experience in the helicopter

That looks like it would be a blast to go for a ride in. Great for photography, too, although I suppose drones are the go-to for areal photos, now. The mechanism on the main rotor is fascinating... It's amazing how they have been engineered to allow for the tilts and turns necessary for flight.

Lol, and a hell of a lot cheaper to use a drone for pictures :) Thanks for having a look!

Well, if you're looking for a cheap way to get yourself airborne, I saw a video, where a laidy was lifted up pretty high with three drones working together! It's probably really dangerous, though. They were only showing how easy it was to do.

멋집니다. ㅎㅎ

Hai frieand nice pic

Way back in the 80’s I was thinking about becoming a helicopter pilot and flew a Robinson-22 out of Chino California. I’ll never forget the introductory lesson. While only a few feet off the ground the instructor literally chased a jackrabbit for what seem like five minutes or more. I had no idea that a helicopter was so agile!

Thanks for the post and great images!
