Ibanag are the inhabitant of lowland northern Philipines. Compared to Igorots of the highlands which means "people of the mountains"who live in the highland, Ibanag means "people of the river" finds refuge in the lowland. Ibanag also is the term for the language of Ibanags.
Archeoligical evidences says that aside from relying on the river, Ibanags also are hunters. As today, Ibanags are highly influenced by modernization. They have almost forgotten their culture. Even people speaking of Ibanag is deteriorating. The Ibanag language is over powered by another tribal dialect, Ilokano which are also lowland tribal groups.
