Watson, a computer system, developed by IBM, is powerful enough to provide answers to questions asked all in a natural language. You hear stories about computers taking over the world, but you never actually imagine it could become a reality, until you meet Watson.
The AI that competed on quiz show jeopardy beating champions to win the first prize. So naturally when i heard HeartBit would be partnering with IBM and their Watson system to further the platform's AI and ML functionalities, I was more than ecstatic.
Here’s why…
It helps fix a global problem.
Let's think about it this way, because of our eating habits and poor lifestyle choices, the number of people dying from heart complications has risen sharply over the years.
In fact, according to the centre of disease control, of every four people that die each year, one of them was due to a heart complication. That's insane.
Leave alone actual diagnosis, knowing you have a heart condition is not easy. It would take someone walking with huge ECG equipment and take physicians hundreds of hours of data analysis to accurately detect heart conditions, which is why i can only assume there are millions of unsuspecting individuals going about life not knowing they have a heart condition until it's too late.
Here's why the world needs HeartBit.
If you live in the 21st century then you've probably owned or heard of fitness tracking devices. That Fitbit, that Garmin, which ever one - most of them have one thing in common.
They have an optical heart rate sensor built in, which is a great technology because it allows you find out important information like your current heart rate.
Optical heart rate sensors measure the state your heart by blasting LEDs through your skin to detect blood flow, it is from the light that is reflected from your blood that these sensors analyse - thanks to algorithms to come up with your heart rate. Although this method is great because it is non-invasive, it also tends to be inaccurate sometimes.
See most of these wearable devices don't work properly during high intensity workouts, the readings they churn out can also be easily affected by factors such as skin temperature and skin tones.
A worthy solution.
HeartBit's proprietary 3-lead bipolar ECG system uses multiple electrodes that are situated next to your skin to record the electrical impulses your heart produces as it contracts. This data is then analysed using algorithms and machine learning technologies to come up with findings and because HeartBit’s devices were developed to integrate perfectly with your smartphone, you can easily log in and check out your health information from the comfort of your own home and even get suggestions on how you can improve your already tailored workout routine. It's a gamechanger.
It's not just personal.
HeartBit also helps reduce costs related to health and medical expenses, while also improving how different organizations offer their services.
We have blockchain to thank for this, see health insurance fraud has been an issue ever since, well since insurance existed. Whether intentionally or accidentally, some individuals may lie or conceal information in an effort to get health care benefits paid to them or another group of people, one of the most common types of fraud that occurs is what i refer to as the concealment of pre-existing conditions, sure there are other types of frauds that occur but let's focus on fixing this one today.
Because the user’s heart and physical data is stored on the platform’s blockchain ledger, insurance providers are confident with whatever the client integrates with their health insurance package because they know that this information is transparent and hasn't been tampered with.
If many users use HeartBit devices, the prices health insurance providers give won't be too high, because they won't need insane costs to compliment the funds lost through fraud. It doesn't just stop there, because doctors will be given HBIT Tokens as rewards for participating in the platform and providing solutions, HeartBit will be assisting the medical industry too.
What can we expect?
The company will be releasing three products to the market. The HeartBit fitness which is a 3-lead 5-sensor ECG system device the size of a small phone that can be attached to a flexible silicon chest strap for conclusive heart analysis.
The second product is the training top, which is an actual training top designed with athletes and regularly active people in mind. These tops don't just come with all the ECG functionalities, they're also comfortable and breathable.
The last product is stylish Apple Watch band that also acts as a power bank.
I must say, it's tough to pick just one.
Production for the first batch of inventory began in this last quarter of 2018, so you might want to sign up for early access and first-hand information.
